I have been thinking about dynoing my truck, I am however worried it will cause excess wear and or tear something up, are these worries unfounded or am i actually right about what i am thinking.
An inertia dyno is comparable to a full throttle blast down the street, or 1/4 mile.
A load bearing dyno run takes longer, IMHO about 5 minutes is minimum, to warm up, start the load, run it up to max and start pulling it down, take the readings, run through the cool down cycle, and shut down the vehicle/engine.
There are those who feel a load dyno puts too much stress on the unit, but IMHO the only way to find out how much smack something puts down is to give it a proper workout.
