Does the 2017 3500 Aisin have a rear LSD?

It seems that despite stating there is a LSD in the rear I can place one rear wheel on ice and the other will not get power. Same thing as when I had my 2003. It seems they don't act as I would expect?

It is a torsen style which is a torque multiplying type diff. What ever torque is available on low torque side is multiplied by 2 and available on High torque side. Problem is 2x0 is still zero so they don't work with one wheel off the ground or when 3x torque isn't enough to move the truck. Usually applying a little E-Brake is all that is necessary to give the high side drive necessary to move.

This sounds really dumb. So the more you need the Ltd slip to work the less likely it will

A limited slip is a limited slip. It's the safest option (besides open diff) for driving on snow/ice covered roads and that's probably why Chrysler uses it. Anything more than a limited slip diff on slippery road surfaces gets well..... let's just say the pucker factor can go to 10 really quick if you don't know how to drive it.

I don’t disagree there. I sure like my MDX and Subaru Too bad we can’t get trucks to work closer to how they do

The Throttle Booster from BD Power will wake your pedal up for under $300 bucks. It will not fix it, but it makes your truck way more fun. Plug and play with no engines codes.

Other than at almost zero traction they actually work better than a clutch type unit. The clutch type units put a fixed bias between low and high side and once you exceed that they start spinning the low side and need the e-brake trick also. Difference is the multiplication effect ramps up the available drive on the high side faster so less e-brake is required.

There are better units available. The Detroit Trutrac has a 3.5:1 multiplication ratio compared to the stock 2:1. Have them F&R in my 06. The times I thought they weren't working it was because all four wheels were spinning.
