And I imagine diesel uses more oil than gas does.

The 42 gallons of oil yield about 44 gallons of products. In addition to gasoline, here's what can be produced:



Diesel and heating oil, 10 gallons.

Jet fuel, 4 gallons.

Heavy fuel oil, 1. 8 gallons.

Liquefied petroleum gas, 1. 8 gallons.

Other products, such as asphalt base, 7. 3 gallons.
