I was looking forward to a lopey idle personaly but I don't seem to have one :(

I was curious to know if those of you that have manual transmissions are the ones to get the cool idle? I have an auto and the only time I here anything close to a lopey idle is when coasting to a stop but once the torque converter catches up with the vehicle speed it goes away. It is also gone when shifted into neutral or park.

So if you've got the lope what is your combination? curious minds want to know

Perfectly smooth idle. A little higher then stock, but smooth.

Only time I hear anything is the engine/transmission is at the same speed, but it still isn't bad.

Why would you want a lopey idle? All that means is the pump has so much internal leakage that it can't pop the injectors correctly at idle. How is that a benefit?

Not always true.

Usually hot rod pumps have such a "nervous" govenor that they can't decide to add fuel, or pull fuel, so you end up with a hot rod "lope".

Check out some of the serious sledpullers. . As teh Rev's start coming up, it will sound almost like a old steam train in fast forward, LOL

Merrick,

are reffering to VPs or stuuupid pumps?

Dave

As for the sound, I'm refering to P-Pumps, as for the govenor thing, it can happen in both VP's and P-pumps... .

Usually the VP44's own computer knows that idle RPM = x amount of fuel, and it starts at that rate, then sees teh RPM climbing, and cuts fuel, then returns to it's known amount of fuel rate for idle,, thus begins a nervous govenor idle. Sounds sweet but alot has to do with Fuel pressure, Connector tubes, injector lines injectors, and ECM calibration...

Mine also has a very distinct lope at idle even with diesel dynamics stage 2 injectors. I like it and the setup prefoms great.

YEAH!! Is that what that sound is??! ALL the Schied trucks do that crazy choo- choo sound when they light up the chargers.

You could almost predict the length of the pull when a rig did that at IRP.

I want a lopey idle cause it sound cool

The only benefit is that it sounds a bit meaner and reminds me of a built big block, the real benefit is inside the pump whether you hear it or not.

It's just a nice unintended side effect in my oppinion.

I have a friend who cringes when he hears my truck pull up. "I hate that sound. " An old friend walked out to my truck one day and says in a drawl, "Damn Nich, your truck sounds like a hot rod. " It is a very distinct idle.

My truck idles very nervously when I am coasting to a stop. Once I have stopped for about two seconds the idle smoothes back out. The idle is a little smoother with 275 injectors, but is still very noticable. I am becoming more convinced that it is an okay set-up since the performance is very much noticable.

I've got a nice lope on my HRVP44, with mach 2's it's very noticeable coming off the freeway. I like it, it runs excellent, took a little getting used to but now it just sounds normal to me. After installing the FASS pump it settled down some.

My truck idles smooth in the morning but when warmed up that little 5. 9 starts babbling at you. I love it and the power is awesome as well. I feed my little cummins well:D

Good to hear. I remember at one point you were ready to get a brand C.

Mine is smooth when it's cold and first started. After it starts to warm up it sounds like a cammed out gasser.

I had a few guys ask me about the idle at the Spring Fling. So it's very noticeable.

My truck is smooth in the morning but once it warms up you can hear the difference. When I stop it idles at 1000 rpm for 5 secs. then drops to 850-900. My buddy who drives a powerslob says that It's "f@ckin annoying" but I told him it's because he doesn't know what a real diesel is suppose to sound like. One of the guys at Industrial Injection told me that it seemed like jammer injectors for some reason made some trucks a little choppier. He also said that some trucks will idle ruffer then others.
