Does "Trucks" Suck Now?

Shot put it over the fence

I just scoop it up and throw it over the fence from where it came from. I think the neighbors trained their dog to only go the yard to the north. (of course I use a shovel):D

Weekly ???? DOH !!!!!

Bet ya can't guess which way I posted :D .

Anything over daily would be a nightmare, heck, daily is a nightmare. I use a kids plastic shovel and a mop handle, then fling it into the woods. The worst is the winter months, when it melts into the snow/ice, then I have to break out the spade shovel to break it loose. This is really a $hitty subject.

My dog won't go in the yard so I have no cleanup, it helps having several hundred acres of open land around. I don't even know where he goes. I do know that after three of four months of below freezing temps when the day comes that the hundred or so turds finally thaw out smells pretty ripe.

The youngest of my 3 Labs cleans up my other dogs poop. He EATS IT!!!!. We've been told to sprinkle Accent on their food, give them Fig Newtons, and a few other things to make their poop taste bad so the youngest dog doesnt eat it. Wouldn't you think poop tastes bad no matter what you feed them. Just the other day i was bending over in a chair tying my shoes. The youngest Lab comes up to me and burps in my face. Talk about sh*t breath!! Needless to say he gets his teeth brushed a few times a day.

LMAO. Can you loan me your puppy?:D:D

I voted daily, but things are looking pretty good for the fertelizer idea.

Wifes dog (a Chihuahua) is a tootsie roll type personality. :D

My puppy (shepherd, husky wolf and newfoundland mutt) is quite the other side of the coin. She's 11 weeks old (over 20 lbs already!!) and poops like a big dog!!

I'm trying to train her to go in the street, and got a comment from a neighbor today involving dog poop and his new PT cruiser's tires smelling up his garage!!:p:D

As a side note, my pup seems to be concerned with me leaving her poop in the street. ( cant walk by it w/o smelling it, and looking back when we pass by it walking etc) I just tell her "I think it'll be safe there". :D

Toilet training didn't work for our dogs. Did for the pony though... Guests kinda turned off by the steel reinforcement of the bowl. And I wish he wouldn't scratch his a$$ on the doorway !!

ROTFLMAO - Ohhhboy, my sides are sore from all the LMOA

Cummins_N_VTwins - I just figured out why we never have to clean the kitty box. I've been wondering why the Lab's got such bad breath! LOL

Round these here pahts we just call it mulchin'!!

:-laf Now that is funny. :-laf

During the summer they have 585,264 acres of wilderness to recycle in.

During the winter it is hold it until we go skiing (Doggie Klister). Or wait until the three feet of snow in the yard melts in the spring and let HIM clean it up..... yeeeeyewwww.:(

RottnDogue, out of curiosity could you elaborate on that "raw" diet concept?

Hi Ol' Trail Dog,

I don't think RottenDogue has posted in a while, but I can help. the raw diet is also called the BARF Diet. Here is a link to get you started. http://www.barfworld.com/html/learn_more/what_is_barf.shtml If you google the term "Dog BARF diet" You will get a whole bunch of info. I can help fast forward a bit. The diet consists of raw food prepared for your pet. meats & Veggies, I think. the thinking is that it more closely approximates what they are used to it and brings to the forefront the whole spectre of what is in pet food and is it really any good for yoyur pet. A recent article, I think last summer, about a pet food company using really rotten moldy grain and killing and crippling a bunch of dogs highlighted this.

Anyway, I have read up a lot. the BARF diet is a bit contrioversial. It is very dependent on what you put into it for components and the quality of those components. Since you are making it yourself, you are the control.

After a lot of reading by us and our agility trainers, "The Boys" eat California natural. We have had no ear infections and no skin or coat issues since starting this diet. "The Boys" coats shile like new dollars and we constantly get compliments on their condition.

Hope this helps.

My Shep is the most finicky dog I've ever seen.

I've tried everything, even the B. S. $35. 00 a bag (only sold at the Vet  ) dogfood.

Maybe I'll try the BARF diet on her.

I dont think that it's that she's not hungry. You could hear her stomcah making the hunger noises. :(

You cant even bribe this dog with dog bones. :(

Hey, thanks ACoyle for the link and Google suggestion.

I sort of looked into "cooking" my own after reading a website about epilepsy and diet. RocsAyn, my Sheridan shelter rescue bc, has a seisure about every 6 mns. My guess is she had a seisure and fell out of a truck, lived in the wild, and was finally picked up by the shelter. She is soooo uncomfortable about riding in the back of a pickup that she ends up with diarrhea after a day or two of travel -- a learning experience for me  She does okay if she rides in the cab or in the topper "shack" with a dog house in the topper.

The cooked diet seemed inconvenient and time consuming given I'm on the trail during the summer when it's so easy to dole out the dry stuff and stick it back in the bag if they are not in the eating mood. Unfortunately, they seem to have good appetites when home, but when we are in the hills they will eat supper sparingly but rarely breakfast. They get as thin as a rail during the summer time and are as filthy as a couple dirt chickens. Believe me a bottomless tent and a couple of horse pads is the ticket ;) That is what is nice about winter -- they are clean, shiny, and don't smell half bad... . for a dog that is :-laf .

Just instinctively, a constant diet of ground grain, filler, parts is parts, and fat poured on to hide it all can't be good in the long run. Probably, like to do a mix of methods and diets for variety and convenience.
