Some of the best authority's on the quality or lack of on the new trucks would be the few techs that subscribe to this site.
They see them on a regular basis.
That being said,a guy in the neighborhood just got a 2014/2015? 2500 qclb Hemi. Gosh, that thing sounded nice driving by.
Come on lottery or unexpected inheritance from the old country.

We were thinking about it until I got the computer fixed and went reading about all the Problems with the NEW STUFF, I'll just tuff it out in my O4.5

Leaking lines and things that are fixed with flashes and not that big of a deal. The dead pedal issue is serious and RAM does not seem to be addressing that. That would concern me more that anything else. EVERYONE should be reporting that on www.safercar.gov !

Keep talking about the problems with the new trucks & it will keep money in my pocket.

My 06 had the heater blend door 3 times, twice in warranty & once out of warranty (ouch)

Do the new trucks still have the "hidden" grease zerk in the cardan joint on the front drive shaft like my 06?

What do the techs on this forum think of the new truck? Have any of them bought a 2014/15?

I agree the dead pedal is a major concern that is probably the main reason I have held back.

Extended warranty will fix most problems, but dead pedal does not seem to be one of them.

I don't own one of the 4th gens. I bought my 07.5 6.7 in Oct of 07. Hated it until I dialed it all in. I can tell you that I had a 2015 come in for an oil change a few weeks back. It was at the end of the day and we were just going to do it real quick and be done for the day. Drained the oil and went for the filter when I discovered a big steel skid plate under the front of the engine. No way to get to the oil filter. So went for the top side and it was so blazing hot that we had to let it sit for 30 mins to be able to take off the intake tube to access the filter. The CCV tube has a permanent hose clamp on it so that settled that. Had to work it out through the fender well and made a big mess. Eyes rolling back,,,,,,, I am surprised to see Dodge making it so difficult to do such an easy task. I'm very happy to keep my 07,6.7 and leave the new trucks to you guys. ")
Oh and from what I hear. Chrysler made the fuel filter with a pin in it to release a check ball. If you use any aftermarket filters that don't have the pin, the truck won't start up. Seems like they have learned from the Ford 6.0L.

sure the Stealerships want it back so they can BEND THE OWNER OVER THE FENDER for the repair bill.

Used to be called a Fuel Tank Franks but that was when they had fuel tanks on the side of a Real truck. So Over the Fender could also be known as Bend Over Billy?

CooperD! Do it! The new trucks are amazing and have good warranty. I'm glad I got the new rig. It gets a solid 5 mpg better than my 2010 did and better than that on the highway.

DFitzwater! Thank you for helping me spend my money :-laf

What is your mpg hand calc - I did a spreadsheet on my 2006 since new and over 114k miles I get a honest 18.2 mpg!

We also test drove a 2015 Laramie Crew cab 4x4 ( 5.7 hemi they did not have the diesel 2500 in stock) we could feel every bump in the road ( worse than my 06 4x4 reg cab 8 ft bed)

If someone would tell me the ride with the coil springs will smooth out over time it wil help my sway my wife's opinion.

Seriously, I will probably order one before Christmas so it can be built after the holiday. Oo.

I usually go for the extended warranty on vehicles since they have paid for themselves over time not sure yet on the lifetime warranty.

My salesman said on the lifetime warranty "if the cost of repair exceeds the value of the truck than chrysler will not pay".

So much for thinking ram will replace anything forever.

That is correct and always has been. The contract states that if the repair exceeds the reasonable value of the vehicle they will refund the contract cost. So far the only ones I know it has happened on is the Crossfires. Mercedes jacked the engine price up over $25k so it pretty much makes it a no brainer not to fix it.

My mileage average over 11k miles has been 16.1.........and the lie-o-meter claims less. I've gotten as bad as 10mpg while pulling a small excavator (actually pretty good considering) and as good as one 22mpg trip......the lie o meter was spot on when hand figuring that trip. A recent trip to Anchorage running 65-70 mph in 4x4 the truck still pulled 18mpg (not towing) and 15 mpg towing a 5500 lb boat. The trip is about 375 miles one way and varies from mountains to flat land.
The coil spring rear suspension has been flawless for me. I haul a 500 gallon water tank occasionally and it doesn't handle it as solidly as my 2010 3500 DRW but for what it is, it does great. It rides much better empty than any of my previous diesel trucks. It seems to handle bumpy roads (especially when towing boats and trailers) better than leaf springs with less hop and a more hooked up feel.

A good friend traded his diesel in on a new Hemi like the one you test drove and the ride is his biggest complaint. It rides great with a water tanks in the back or hooked to his travel trailer but empty its a bit rough on washboards and square edged bumps.

Thank all for the input!

It's hard to think about getting rid of a truck as nice as my 06 that only my butt has driven, but I could use the trade in value on a $60k truck.

It's better to deal with the problems of a new truck than the problems of an old truck or is it the other way around.;)

Figured my mpg last night for the life of the truck:

114,426 miles / 6,271.964 gallons = 18.2438 mpg

$3,286.50 in taxes on diesel fuel :{

Ok I drove a 2015 Ram 2500 diesel 4x4 with the air ride suspension and I gotta say it rode a lot better than the 5.7 I drove.

Than to throw more fuel on the fire I gave my dealer a list of what options to put on it and I am waiting to see what price he quotes.

If that looks promising will see what he'll offer on trade.

Didn't the original post say "don't do it"?

Ha ha! Still spending my money DFitzwater.

When we finally get to Nenana, AK to visit the family property we will swing up your way to show you the new ride.

Only one problem I will have to pay off the "new" truck first. ( In 4-5 years ).

I went into the dealership a year ago to prove to myself that the new trucks weren't all that much better than my 98 12V. Sure enjoyed the ride home in my new truck. I still love it everytime I get into it. It is also my last truck. I was in the Harley dearship the other day, you know the new Sportsters don't really cost that much. I try not to even look at the place when I drive by. :) By the way I looked at the new Eco Diesel when I was in getting some service work done, man they are nice.
