Door Hinges

When I did a Chevy I put two ladders on each side of the opened door and put a 2X4 (or something) between the ladders and over the door and tied the top of the door (window down) to the 2X4 with a motorcycle tie down and it held the door in place good enough to do the pin/bushing replacements..... I'm getting ready to do my 93 Dodge soon... ... ... . Chuck

Okay, so now that we've figured out how to replace the pins and bushings, how do you access the top bolt that holds the hinge to the truck? I've tried everything, but that top bolt is impossable to reach! Is there anything that can be done short of taking off the entire dash? Please let there be, otherwise I have a heck of a job in front of me.



I did the driver's door last Aug. , it made the door close level, but the top sticks out and catches wind. 6 months later I'm starting to get sick of the wind rush noise.

It ain't gonna be fun . I have a set of wrenches that have a open end wrench on one end and a socket on the other that folds (bends) back and forth that I have used . But if I understand what you are trying to say is that the top of the door is not flush with the body of the truck ??????? You can loosen the bolts on the top hinge that are on the door part of the hing and push the door in closer to the truck body that way . If you loosen the bolts on the part of the hinge that bolts to the truck body that will only let you adjust the door up and down , not in and out (closer) to the truck body.

a polley whats the best way to fix door ,broke around bottom hinge seems to be a common problem?
