The pax side elec door latch on my 'new' (2nd) '95 didn't work. (The elec lock-unlock). I could hear the motor running in both directions, but the lock button wouldn't go up or down. So I thought "must be summpin' simple", and decided to rip into door and fix it. . (chuckle). . I read in one of the manuals "door latch is NOT repaireable". . They weren't kiddin'. . It wasn't too tough to get out, (actually much easier than some trucks I've worked on), but being mechanically inclined (hah. . hah). . AND curious, as always, once out I got it on the bench, I tried to open it up. . pfft, pptting, ching, ching. . springs and stuff flew everywhere. . parts fell out and it now is just a bag of parts. . I don't know how the heck anyone assembled it in the first place. . looked like a Swiss watch inside. . So. . If yours is broke, plan on about $100 for a new one. . Went back in easier than it came out. . Just another day in the life. .

PS. The '*******' told me the 'new design' of the latch required a change of the striker (the 'U' bolt thing that bolts to the door jam), (cost about $10), but I didn't need it. . the orig. one worked fine. So try it without first before buying the new striker.
