OK, just thought I would mention this since I always scratch the door sill with my boot eyelets getting in and out of my truck... damn steel toes.

VentShade makes a universal step sheild the is about 4 inches wide with a 1/2 inch lip on one edge... it mounts vertically to the 03+ ram doorsills perfectly. I have been using mine since it was new... it has been great, not a scratch to date.

I think they cost me around $14 for the set... got mine at PepBoys. Nothing more than a couple pieces of black plastic...

Actually Ventshade makes ones specifically for our trucks, this is picture of the front door one, there is a picture of the rear door one in my reader rig.

The universal one covers more of the sill further down.

I saw the model specific one hangin on the shelf at the same time I bought mine... I bought mine just for the added length...

Just FYI,

As long as it works, that is the only thing that matters.

anyone just try herculiner or any thing else similar? i may try this in spring time. may help to prevent rust too, at least for the northern folks.

I have running boards on, so that isn't an issue. I have used the spray on bed liner inside a job box (the stuff in the can from autozone)... it doesn't seem to stick as well as I would hope...
