This is gonna sound weird, but i'll try it anyway. For some reason, I don't think my front doors are shutting all the way. When I hit a bump (a big one, 50+), for a second or so I get a lot of what I can only described as "wind noise. " If I push on the door (outwards) while doing this, it's even more pronounced. Do I have bad door seals? Are the doors just not shutting all the way? Anyone heard of something like this?

Thanks guys.

Your doors are closing just fine. It is top notch engineering on Dodges part, kinda in the same category as when 18" of snow ends up on your seat when you open it for the first time after a snowfall. :-laf

Yah but you only get the seat fulla snow once unless you are either in a hurry or the CRS kicks in. :-laf Easier to reach up and wipe the snow off the door than trying to get it out of the cab.

And I agree about the pee poor design. #@$%!

I think that these doors kindof get "bent out" a little bit from opening them against their stops. Some other people have had this problem, and have been able to fix it by opening the door, bracing their knees against the bottom, and pulling hard on the top to "tweak" things back in to better shutting position.

My truck does the same thing but only on the drivers door. It has happened pretty much since day one (yes I was too lazy to get into the dealer under warranty). Also on my truck it is far worse when heater/ac blower is on and worse when it is on fresh air vs recirculate. If I hold the top edge of the door real tight it goes away, if you slide a finger into the crease between the door and roof you might just lose a nail. I think some of the issue is poor venting of positive air pressure in the cab, my truck blows all kinds of bubbles around the windows if the fan is on while its soaped up. I have went so far as yank the back seats to get a look at the vent, it seemed fine.

When I wash my '06 with the fan running, it blows bubbles out of the key holes, door handles and door window seals. Since new, it's had alot of wind noise around the driver door.

Exactly what happens to me tramplineman. Pretty irritating isn't it? Look at the top edge of the door when its making noise, on mine you can literally see the door "flapping" in the breeze.

Roll down the window, put a 2x4 broadside in between the door jamb and the door above the latch and push in at the top of the door frame. Do it nice and easy, that shpuld help snug up the door to cab seal at the top of the frame.

I haven't tried this on my Dodge as I do not yet have this porblem but I have done it to other rigs I have owned and need to do it the Sidekick I just bought for a DD.

Guess i'll head right out to the body shop to have my 2006 Dodge Ram with 40k miles on it doors adjusted.

Other than that, thanks for the helpful advice guys.

Wind noise

I've had some wind noise ever since mounting my popup cabover on the '07. I had none on the '99. Both reg. cabs, same camper. The new one is still heaps quieter than the '99 regardless. Before the camper, the '07 was silent. One thing about the reg. cabs. though is that you have to exert a little more effort in closing the doors when the windows are closed. Reminds me of the V-Dubs. :)

On my truck you can feel the pressure on your ears if you slam the doors with the defroster on high. I have considered adjusting my drivers door, in fact I bought a nice set of torx sockets just for that reason. But to look at the door and compare it to the other door all of the gaps seem consistent. Guesse I am just afraid of making it worse. I think the root of the problem is insufficient venting of positive pressure in the cab, coupled with a door slightly out of adjustment (usually the drivers door, due to use).

How about using the adjustable door hinges???? Pretty sure that's why they put them there.

Sag2:

Your comment gave me a chuckle and precisely stated what I was thinking. Why bend the door when a skilled body man could peform a simple adjustment and make it right? You don't often post but when you do your words of wisdom usually put the nonsense to rest.

I wouldn't care to live in the "Bay Area"; my politics and value system would not be a good match with many citizens of that area (including my sister who I haven't spoken to in many years), but I occasionally wish I could take my truck to the Dodge dealer where you work to have you perform testing or repair.

I just had to adjust mine after a gust of wind took my door open so hard it bend the hinges ever so slightly...

It took me a bit to figure out that the washers that are painted over actaully move once you whack them with a chizel (found this info in a TDR thread)

Once that broke free it was SUPER easy to set front of door edge closer to the seal - heck actaully over shot the first time and had to back it off. .

Now the door shutting sounds really nice and solid again

The two by four method is how they did it at the plant. My old neighbor JD could work magic with one. That is how he did it before they were painted. I watched him do that to several used cars in his driveway at home.
