well like I said they voided his powertrain warranty. As far as the injectors, if they are on hold and cannot be ordered without special concent from the higher ups. I believe he called it the "STAR Hotline" this is where parts come from when dealers order them.
they are on hold and cannot just be ordered and replaced. A hold could indicate serveral things like: a quality control problem, inventory shortages, known problems with a "fix kit" needed or further tests required like in this case. its an indicator that several trucks have come in with injector faillures and they are trying to get a handle on it and isolate the problem. If you think back to around mid 2001 the same thing happened with lift pumps.
These folks arent stupid. They train thier techs to look for tell tale things to indicate a "box" had been used. Personally, I dont blame them. I am my own warranty station comes to mind here.
I'll try to get the codes and test they asked for when this happened.
