Jeep Wrangler Improvement - Hardtop Side Sliding Windows

Jeep Gladiator

Will the wife's TDI Jetta was 10 years old yesterday, the 24 of June. She had only 75,000 miles on the OD but she claimed that she still missed her SUV.

So, we went looking for a new 2021 SUV. We did not intended to buy just look at several different SUV's models (I know this always happens). Never got pass the first dealership in looking at a SUV. After 6 hours we went home with a new Hyundai Santa FE, SEL, SUV. She really likes the SUV so far, but that has been only one day of driving. She does like the APPLE CAR PLAY (bells and whistles) and the info system on the Hyundai.

My middle son got one about a month ago and that started the whole thing.

Couple years ago one of our employees totaled her Ford Focus which had been a very nice little car for her. She thought she would get another but the Hyundai dealer was right next to Ford so she looked there to. The Hyundai Elantra beat the Focus all to heck, lower repair costs, better fuel economy, way better warranty and cheaper. She was out the door around $14,000 through Costco. The dealer knocked off another $500 from the original Costco quote, just hard to beat.

Yes; The Hyundai she bought has free maintenance for the first three years. Plus she bought a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty for a under $2,300 which is bumper to bumper. With all of the computer and the bills and whistles on this car I certainly won't be able to fix the car.

I spent over $5,000 on repairs that would be covered under this warranty so I am hoping this is a good deal!

According to my friend that is the business manager at a Hyundai/Mazda dealer, buying an extended warranty on the Hyundai is most likely a good idea. She says that Hyundai's are in the service bays much more often than the un-noticed/minor market player Mazda's.

per RepairPal (which may be complete BS, who knows): "One more advantage offered by the Hyundai Sonata is its exceptional warranty. This includes a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, plus a five-year/60,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. This provides great peace of mind if you plan on a long-term ownership experience."

wonder what % of that dealership sales are Hyundai vs Mazda? If they sell 10X more Hyundais there will be more repair bays with Hyundais, so we really need to compare equivalent amounts of vehicles from each manufacturer. I bet rates of repair are not THAT different between the two. Mazda probably has an edge but the Hyundai warranty is pretty hard to beat. If they honor it, which I think they do.

Me, I like Toyota engineering and quality, even though Ozy says they are the same as everything else now. But you pay a lot for Toyota compared to Hyundai.

Jim wasn't that a wagon? I've always wanted a Wagon....either way someone will end up with a really nice low mileage car.

I'm still going strong on the 01 and 12. The 01 will be due for the 3rd timing belt job before the end of the year. The Original DMF went at around 210k miles. The remaining clutch material on the OE disc was well over half compared to the new one. Against my better judgement I installed the new (OE) disc anyhow. Also went with a SMF this time.

I Performed the first 120k timing belt interval and another DSG service on the 12 over the winter.

I'll keep the torch lit for ya Jim!

So given the factory warranty, what did she get for 2K warranty she bought? 5 years and 40K of additional Bumper to Bumper?

We have had 2 Hyundais and both have been relatively trouble free. The first one was a 2000 and it went almost 270000 miles. Used no oil between changes, but did need a trans at about 235000 miles. Our current on is an '09 and only has 130000 miles on it. only problem so was an oil pan that rusted through last year.

My wife's vehicle is a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited Ultimate and we have nothing but good things to say for the past two years. The warranty is one of the reasons we purchased a Hyundai and haven't had to use it. Hopefully in another 8 years we are just as happy! Good luck with your Hyundai and I think you will be happy!

In her case no additional warranty was purchased. Drivetrain covered for 10 years/100K. Hopefully it's adequate.

In my wife's case she has coverage on all of the computers that are used in todays vehicles along with the electronics that is in her car. Such as ABS brakes, Traction Control, Lane Assist, adaptive cruise control and so forth. Todays vehicles are way more complicated than say your 1957 Chevy 2 door Belair that we all know and love to have.

In fact my wife's Hyundai (and I think most new cars do this) sends her a daily message via e-mail, on the condition of her car. Right now the car has informed her the the drives side door is un-locked, but that is OK since the car is in the garage.
