It was said on another Forum that people are getting kicked off for life for talking about removing your DPF and EGR. Is that true? Is it true that you can not talked about every thing on TDR. Even when so many people on here have there 3rd gen modded to the hill and have there CAT removed(which is illegal). When they also support vendors that Cat Delete kits for the 3rd gen. I just wanted to know if that is true or do i have the wrong Forum. I love TDR as i have gotten alot of help here. Its sad to think that we can not talk about anything and everything on a Dodge. I hope its not this Forum and i am mistaken

I've posted here for a while and no of nothing about being asked to leave this forum unless you get into a fight with another member...

I would assume that speaking and doing are 2 different things...

I personally see our trucks as a system... . on that includes an engine and drive system... and the guys who design the have one hell of an education... . I see no reason to try and second guess them and make drastic changes like I saw on cars in the 70's... . I also understand that most cars and trucks have to pass an emission test to re-register... and that test now includes the use of a computer that checks to see that all systems installed on the vehicle at production are there and function... . like one computer talking to another.....

I see the same changes headed our way in Class 5-8 trucks with the feds pushing the manufacturers to build a common language to test all systems... .

Big Brother is watching... .

So if you don't have emissions to worry about, just setting forest fires, lack of reliability and poor mileage, is it OK to second guess the systems design?

Just because smart people that know more than any of us about combustion designed this setup doesn't mean it's the way they would want to see it done.

I am just wondering, I hate to see someone get bashed for doing something to there truck. If i spend 40k on a truck and i want to Pull the DPF off, I can. there are people that will argue and there are those that will support me. I my self dont have the DPF and next week the EGR is getting blocked. I dont want somebody to band me for it as I want to share what i have done to my truck for those who are on here and want to do the same. there are many people looking for that answer to remove that equipment off of ther truck. From what i heard people got kicked off of here for talking aobut it and the reason was that TDR does not support doing illegal stuff to there truck. But i guess those people that kick those fellows off dont lie, dont speed, Never roll through stop sign, always wear there seat belt and so on. I hate to see that type of dictatorship but again, I posted this thread to see if it was true, not to argue with anybody. I am hoping that a moderator or two will jump in to confirm this. yea or nay

I know over at DTR the 6. 7L engine forum has a sticky message at the top that says there will be no discussion of any emissions tampering since it's a violation of federal law. I think that's an extreme position because just discussing or writing about something that's violates a law is not illegal.

This is about 3rd hand info so feel free to correct anything I'm relaying.

I know of one guy who supposedly got a DPF delete kit directly from Cummins and is using whatever chip/programmer Edge has to override the codes that may be set.

I could believe the Edge part of that, but the delete kit from Cummins doesn't make much sense to me.

Has anyone else heard anything similar?

If I don't respond we'll know if it's allowed here.

paul, can you give some insight in the dpf delete, and also the egr, weather its posted in this thread or pm me some info, i am in great need of some info such as, Engine codes you are throwing, the manufacture of the product, the millage increase/decrease, and power output after? Thanks a bunch.

DTR will kick you off for nothing, got slaped for joking about Jack and WHAM! no posting for a week that was 4yrs ago ain't been back since!

I would bet he may know someone at Cummins but Cummins as a company would not be sending DPF deletes to people.

I think it is a little ridiculous for the DTR to take that position. Most engine mod. discussed on any of these forums is technically illegal. Injectors, timing, duration, cams, most any power mods effects emissions. So it's all illegal. Not as easy to detect as a cat missing, but illegal.

I don't second guess the engineers design, but I do second guess the bean counters and the EPA's arbitrary regs. What is the environmental impact of an engine whos life is cut in half by emissions equipment? What's the impact of the increased engine oil used by the modern engines? And the worse mileage? On and on. This consumer would like to make all of my diesel run clean (low smoke) efficient, with long durability. So I have/will defeat a lot of the emissions related hardware on my engines for my desired performance. I wieght this against possible legality. That's the reason forums like this exist. Just because it's discussed doesn't mean everyone out there is doing it. Some people just want to understand how things work a little better and know more than the dealer about problems that arise. I don't spend any time on the DTR and I'm glad.

TDR is too good of a site to play silly little games as dtr does.

here ya can discuss what needs discussing and enjoy doing it. :D

DTR . . man I never noticed that sticky . . if that is there postion they and keep it. . waht a joke . . techincally any truck over 8500gvw in ny that blows solid black smoke is in violation... so most of the members with any size injector over stock may fail a emissions opacity test. . but they still post pics of trucks with huge clouds of smoke etc. . I think they should remove the sticky and grow up. .

Just my opinion...

Well, technically, it's not illegal to modify emission control systems on your vehicles. You own your vehicle and can do what you darn well wish to do with it. You can bury it in a hole, as long as it's not against the law. The illegal part is operating your vehicle on state or federally funded road ways without the federal emission system in operation, or modified. For off-road use they can't say anything about it, and I've been down that road, unfortunately, many times, as I use my trucks a great deal off the road on the ranch. Originally, we had to remove the cats on our gas trucks to keep from setting the pastures on fire, then we went to diesels to enjoy not having to do anything, including down shifting. Now we are starting all over. I've gotten away with it a great deal due to leniency from local authorities, who always understood what it meant to be a farmer or rancher. Now we have the overeducated amongst us, who, in their great education, can't even feed themselves if their lives depended on it, literally. Sure they can calculate how much torque and rpm would be needed to drive a dually truck 60 mph down the highway, but can they grind their own flour for bread? Can they cut a steak from a carcass to eat, even when starving? Do they even have a clue what is involved with making bread, from preparing the soil to planting, growing, harvest, transport, processing, and finally baking it for the product to feed the masses? I believe the few that do are a rarity and certainly not in charge of building our beloved work horse trucks, light duty or medium. God bless those amongst us who can only do what they read in a book. As far as DTR is concerned, let them hang themselves. Politely, I will step aside and let them jump off the edge. When they are gone, we shall continue our conversation in peace. Another right taken for granted here in America, the right to not claim your right to the Fifth Amendment!?!

HHHuntitall,

Your post made good sense. I'd like to be present to witness you asking all the blowdried empty suits in Congress the same questions. Those clueless frauds probably have a staffer to take care of cleanup after they dispose of body waste. And they are the pitiful clowns deciding how much fuel economy our vehicles must achieve and how little pollution our trucks can emit.

Aren't you worried about getting busted by DMV or possible future smog tests? I would get one yesterday if I knew it wasn't going to cause any hassles with the law. Someone should invent a Cat/DPF bypass like they do in some Porsches. You flip a switch and your running straight through for racing. When it's time to go home, flip it back to street
