Can anyone enlighten me as to the MY14 vs 13 and 12 as to the exhaust treatment methods?? Does the MY 14 have no exhaust after burner and just Blu Def treatment.

I am thinking newer truck and don't want to deal with the burner concept as it will not work the way we use the truck at 9000 ft, in the back woods with stock/equipment trailers and hunting ( to many slow miles off road before back to pavement for burn out cycle). My friend already has this problem with his MY12.

Is there a difference in the exhaust treatment between PU 3500 and Cab Chassis? I know there is a difference in the auto trans Asian vs Dodge(RAM)

Just thinking about a newer working truck!! My 99 only has 210k and the body is about to rust off it. Maybe newer Cab and front fenders and a new box/flat bed on the old frame??

The '13 and '14 trucks use a different emission control strategy than the '07.5-'12 MY trucks. Both have particulate filters that require periodic regeneration, but the use of DEF to control NOX emissions results in a cleaner running engine that does not require regeneration as often as the older platform does. The '12 used a NOX adsorber that requires more EGR and very frequent regeneration. Additionally, since the engine produced more particulates than the new platform, regeneration of the particular filter was much more frequent. (To be clear, the earlier platform had two after treatment devices that required regeneration.) For model years '07.5-'10, the C&C had a different emissions strategy, as it was not meeting '10 NOX standards three years ahead of schedule as the pickup was. Now, they're virtually the same.
