DPPI Dual 4" Stainless Steel Exhaust

I spent today installing my new DPPI dual 4" stainless steel exhaust system. They've got them on sale and I finally decided enough waffling around. It arrived very quickly (ordered late in the day Tuesday, and it arrived Thursday, TN -> NY). I'm very happy with it. Everything fit perfect (the passenger side tail pipe is a very tight fit), and it sounds great - no drone at all. It's the T-409 stainless system, however the muffler, hangers and tips are T-304. The workmanship is excellent and Mark at DPPI was very helpful. The only difficult parts were removing the stock down pipe and threading the new one in there. It even fit with a BFG 315 spare and a B&W gooseneck hitch! I can't put the ball in upside down for storage, but I don't do that anyway.

Here's two pictures (it was snowing at the time):

DPPI

Great set of pipes David! I want a dual system one of these days :)

PS you mean DPPI? DPP = Diesel Power Products at least around here :p

Thanks Mark.

I edited my original post to switch DPP to DPPI just so there's no confusion. I don't know if the thread title will change though.

I got a chuckle out of Mark Craig's "frozen ears" comment above. Today while driving to a job I had to go through an underwater tunnel on the Monitor Merrimac bridge -- YES, my windows were down just so I could listen to my exhaust notes bouncing around the walls in the tunnel --- Music to my ears! :D

Do you notice any decrease in torque? Ive been told not to use a dual exhaust on anything unless it was twin turbo or was putting out insane exhaust volume. (more than our trucks{ex: 20B rotary})

Nick

No, if anything it spools a bit faster. It's not a real dual exhaust anyway, it's single up to the muffler. So I don't see the difference. I went for it because I like the symmetry.

I was just giving you a hard time David, most people know when exhausts are the subject and DPP is mentioned it's DPPI ;) (although DPP-Pasco has dual stainless systems).

I think DPPI has been around longer, maybe DPP in Pasco should be DPPP. . . Diesel Power Products-Pasco :p LOL

David can you comment on what RPM the system is the loudest? Does volume increase above 2000 RPM? What RPM is the loudest when you step on it?

Yeah, I know. :)

Loudest? Probably 2100-2500 rpms. I haven't run it up to redline yet, it's pretty cold here. 2100-2500 is where the substandard exhaust systems drone I believe, and you can tell the noise is heading that direction. . But it never gets there. I'd say the volume starts to ramp up in the high teens, 1800-1900. But it depends a lot on boost and all the rest. I'm sure that if I had a substantial load on a trailer the volume would go up a bit too (I know my 01. 5 was deafening with a Jardine exhaust and a big trailer). But cruising along or at idle, it's not louder than stock really - just a heck of a lot deeper. Very nice.
