Thanks, TDR Staff

mag-hytec vs b&m transmission pans

In a nutshell they're all about having questionable and overpriced products sold with deceptive advertising.

My brother's inlaws had a Stage II kit installed in their '98 12-valve and had nothing but grief with it. Terrible smoke and poor MPG not to mention leaky injectors. Installed at the shop in Kellogg Idaho.

Thanks for the response and i tried a search first but it wouldnt take only 2 letters(Dr) Does seem a little unlikly that they could do what there ads say when no one else out there can from what ive read here. thanks again

Vaughn MacKenzie is giving you some VERY good advice on

Dr. Performance!! I agree with him 100%!!

Back in 1998-1999 they ran extensive advertising in the

TDR and other publications saying that they could "out pull,

out drag, and out accelerate" any other diesel performance

company/modification with the ad going on to say "and

you can take that to the "Banks!" Like Vaughn said,

"deceptive advertising!" I personally ran against some

of their "Dr. P prepped trucks" at dyno events and drag

races across the country and can tell you that I certainly

was not impressed!!! For a short time, they claimed to

hold the "current world land speed record for a diesel"

@ 148. 536 MPH, that supposedly happening on or about

08/17/99 done at the Bonneville, Utah. We all know that

Banks Engineering has beat that now by a long shot!!

They also claimed a "quarter mile track record" of 12. 59

@ 109. 87 at Woodburn, OR. on or about 08/07/99.

There are MANY TDR members who are WAY BELOW

that and were back then too, so I just never saw the

big "claim- to- fame" of it all!!! Heck my 2002

Dodge CTD is not far off that 1/4 mile mark!!

Anyway, as the other member said, "run the other way!"

There's a big Dr Performance shop here in Weatherford, Texas where I live. Is that their main place or what? None of their ads list where they are, just phone numbers.

By the way, yes there are a ton of Dr P enhanced haulers in this neck of the woods. Mostly, it's the F450 horse trailer pullers though. There's a ton of Quadzilla trucks around too. Quad is about 20 miles from here in Lake Worth, Texas.

i posted several times on the subj of dr p. to make a long story shrt,,,,,,i installed a phase 2 on my 98. 5 and in testing it appeared to give half the gain of torque they advertied it to. it was removed less than a day latr as it made less pwr than my previous setup

imo, dr p is a crook

my '01 had the good doctors phase II garbage when i bought it. no elbow for the turbo, no guages... it dynoed 242/474.

DD3's fixed everything.

When I first got my truck I called DR. Performance and talked about the upgrades. Every time he said "YA. . Sir. . " it sounded like HEEE HAAWWwww...... It turned me off, I didn't want a Jack Ass working on my truck and the "Bang for the Buck" was no where near what you get from other vendors. Just glad I do my home work before I make any purchases!:D
