New air manifold junk?

Simple ways to improve your truck

Alt 248 gives you the ° symbol, but on my laptop the numeric key pad is a PITA, since its a FN option and not a real keypad so a * goes in!.

That's great coolant. .

Pre-mix will not work on our trucks because you can't drain the last 2+ gallons. The system holds 6. 1 gallons, so with 4 gallons of premix you have a 33%mix! The minimum required is 44%.

Thanks for the heads-up AH64ID & mwilson.

First picture through the refractor is tap water 32°

Second Picture is Cat ELC 50/50 out of the bottle about -35°

Third pic is the concentration in the engine about -5° or so

I can't get Caterpillar ELC concentrate locally. I have to drive 31 miles. Cummins has formulation similar to ES Complete concertrate, but is RED Silicate free. Can I cheat and drive 12 mins to get a gallon of this

I put Shell ELC pre-mix in my truck a few years back. I parked my truck on an extreme nose down slope and drained the radiator. This got most of the coolant out of the block. Not all but enough to get almost 6 gallons of pre-mix back in.

I think you'll be fine going to get the ELC concentrate.

Cummins only has the ES Complete RED in 50/50. He showed another branch had some concentrate but couldn't ship.

So I go to HO Penn buy 2 (just in case) ELC Concentrate @ $28. 27 a GALLON!

Why is there 2 gallons left? The block inlet is the lowest point on the engine. I can see a small amount left due to the block's tilt to the rear so I drive the rear on ramps to offset this some.

Nick

It has to do with the block design, one would think it would fully drain but it doesn't. Some claim they can park at an extreme front low situation and get more out, but I lifted the rear of my truck over a foot and only got drops more.

Please guys, if you need any CAT items try a truck dealer first.

Almost any OEM truck dealer is a member of the CAT TEPS program which means we can and do have much better pricing offered than a CAT dealer to an off the street customer.

For example if Bill had bought his two gallons of 238-8647 from us the price would have been $20. 88 per gallon.

Mike. :)

When I went back to the store to ask about Caterpillar ELC concentrate. He didn't have any in stock. I asked where can I get some?

He said "Caterpillar"

In hindsight I should have checked with some closer Truck dealers first.

And in hindsight on my end I should have offered what it should sell for and suggested a truck dealer over Cat.

I will try to do that anytime that I offer a part number from now on.

I hate seeing any of you get taken to the cleaners on some of these parts.

Ask me pricing questions anytime you need to, I will try to guide you down the cheapest path that I can. ;)

These trucks can be a little pricey to own sometimes but a little research can save big bucks.

Mike. :)
