Well I been tossing this over in my head..... with the torque I have and the way I have treated my truck... ... ... . was pondering if I should have the drivesahft checked ... and balanced. Was looking in the phone book for Parts stores (looking for rotors) when low and behold I found a driveshaft shop here in town. Called'em up. . and talked with them... figure it will be under $100 for them to balance the shaft including them removing and re installing..... so one of these days when I have the funds free I am gonna go do it and see if it makes a difference.

Other then rrausch having it done... and I think toolman had it donne. . anyone else seen any improvements? I figure what the heck its only $100.

We used to use a shop for building new shafts,or modifying old ones, which always charged us for balancing, etc. It was expensive, but they always worked well.

I met an old guy,who has a local shop here, and he said if the shaft is properly built, straight, and has good components,it should never have to be balanced. He offered to do a few shafts for us at no charge to try,and we have been using him ever since. He assembles every thing on a jig,and makes sure it's straight and square, and have never had a problem with any of them. Only thing he said,is some of the factory shafts will have balance weights to offset other components in the shaft, and as long as they are still in place, and the shaft is not bent or twisted is should never go out of balance. If it does, there is something else wrong.

We also find in the shop, that, worn components, and driveshaft phasing and alignment problems are usually the cause of any vibration. Sagging springs, bad shocks, and worn out mounts can also contribute to the problem.

Just my . 02 cents

Chris
