I've got 25 on a dropped valve. I've dropped one and for some reason nearly pulled to through the head. Thus far I've never had a seat problem, but the way you are describing the way the truck runs and smokes I'm guessing valve.
I was just running the stock turbo. Yea the dealership wants 9950 just for a long block which is crazy to me. The weird thing is my egts wernt over 1300. Not sure how they burned up.
1300 degF pre-turbo EGT with lots of timing advance puts much more heat into the piston crowns, cylinder heads, etc. than 1300 degF EGT with stock timing.
I have heard the 04. 5s can stand 1550*f. for 30 seconds without harm. Mine has seen 1600*f. for a few seconds but with the tune I'm now running 1300*f. is about tops in the 1/4.
Seems the folks having most of the problems are running stock turbos. The stock turbo has a very small turbine housing with one very small waste gate. People should see one off the truck. The very high drive pressure must have something to do with the engine damage.
I have never seen all six burn at once would like pic of that. How did they go from one dead cylinder to all six. I was thinking valve seat been there done that.
