I got to drive a new crew cab 4x4 dually last night with the duramax and an allison. The truck was a GM vehicle with a manufacturer plate and was supposed to be #10 off the line. The truck was LOADED w/pleather. A friend told me that he had just driven the truck as another friend had it home from work for the night. I wentr to his house and got him out of bed, away from his naked wife, to drive this thing, to see what the hype was about, as I was told that it will blow mine away,(coming from a big block gmc guy).
So anyway my friend lets me drive the truck, which you can barely hear run, and it actually seemed pretty quick. I was told the truck had 3. 73 gears, and it had the stock dually tires, small, compared to mine with 3. 55 gears and 285's. Seat of the pants feel was as quick or, Ihate to say this,quicker than my DODGE. It definantly would have beeten my truck if it did not have the 275's in it.
The trans shifted nice and firm and the truck was tight,2800 miles.
The truck was too quiet though as we could stand next to the front fender with the engine running, and carry on a normal conversation with out yelling or even talking loud.
The truck box was pretty slick, as the box side is plastic and the dually fender was all molded in as one piece of the side so no seam to collect road salt and rust the box side around the dually fender, but I'll bet they will be pricey to replace.
The truck was pretty nice, but i'll never get away from driving DODGE, and since this is my first CUMMINS that I've owned, I do not see myself driving anything else.
