Heating time and temps

Fuel Filter Article

You probably don't have to heat it as long as I do IF you be really careful not to get any water in your oil. I'm still using a bunch of oil that I got from a guy that use to burn it straight in a powerstroke. I'm starting to think that the crap thats plugging my filters is coming out of my tank. I pugged another one this morning but it didnt look nearly as bad as the boat load that I plugged in one day before. The powerstroke hasn't plugged any lately and the 97 12v has only plugged his inital filter that was on his truck when he got it.

I'mstarting to have some of the dreaded 24v symptoms on my truck( injection pump codes on startup, screwy throttle postion) but I cant really blaim that on DSE because the pump has 160K on it. I've got about 3000 miles on running a varying blend of dse in the truck. The oil runs alot better than diesel( alot less smoke, quieter engine, better milage) the only thing I wish was better is the filter issue.

heat/dse

Hello Mjjohnson

If you build a unit that holds 500 gallons and heat it all the time then after you have it heated the first time pull off the 300 gallons and add more oil and keep heating it. you better find a way to heat this cheap.

Process filter the 300 gallons and put it in storage get about 5 day worth of oil ready and never look back.

a centerfuge will speed this up but the cost of a used one will set you back, spinning the oil to dewater and filter is a lot faster then heating and filtering but you will need deep pockets.

do you have the oil for this at 300 gallons a day you will need 2100 gallons of clean dewatered filtered oil a week. plus the place to put it and handle it.

The batch unit's I use heats for 12 hrs and filters for the same then mixing in the other stuff mixes for 20 mins and its done. making 2 batches today and it will be done at 9 oclock am on tuesday. thats 92 gallons of fuel and my time spent on this is about 35 mins so far

when my centrifuge is done this will take 5 hrs total down from 24+ hrs
