No. I have not.

Talked to a Cummins Rep told him what I was doing he told me that it should not hurt anything ,also told me that if I told anyone who said it that he would tell them I was lying.

Think the Oil Co ,Engine Co, Govt and the Auto Co, might (I said might) be pulling the wool over our eyes, to get inplace a system of refining and delivery system worked out before telling the world we don't need as much of their oil . (JUST MY FEELING'S)

but I do plan on getting them looked at this spring sometime.

after I start running closer to 100% blend for a few tanks.

mileage

hello mark

the 04 5500 miles

the 05 1500 miles

need to de-cat the 05 that should make it run better on the blend also it needs to have the 3rd event on the fueling shut off this will make it more like the 04 and it runs great with 100% blend fuel

Thx - Mark

I get my oil from 4 differnt places.

one fryed chicken, three asian restaurants looking at three more places

also have one place giving me hydrogenated oil for making bio diesel, have not made any yet.

the asian and chicken place are soy /canola oil nonhydrogenated oil

get the kerosine in bulk 55 gallon drums and the gas in 55 gallon drums

the rest of the stuff from powerservice don't need much of this no need to by in bulk the aditive from dse is the last thing its just three industral solvents

for 150 dollars a lab can tell me whats in it if i need to find out.

what I need to haul that much oil down the road and find some people that would be willing to help out with the cost endusers also one can not sell this as a fuel but you can sell it as a oil for making fuel.

cj,

You still using the FPPF additive, or was that just for the extreme cold?

Thanks,

Mark

fppf

no just using it for a test

the amout needed is to great to treat it thats why i went back to 50/50 blend cheaper to mix than to treat the last quart a bought was 9. 95 it's made for bio diesel b-20 it does work in veg oil but you need 5 times as much

not sure if it is better than just mixing in #2

Makes sense - the whole point is to reduce expense. . !

If you don't mind sharing, what formula have you settled upon?

fuel

Hello All

Wow the weakends go fast.

put 20 gallons of blend in truck today and toped off with 13. 5 gallons of #2

that should be about 60% mix

the mix is 10% kero / 5% rug / power service/ dse stuff / last two depends on amount of oil to be mixed

cold weather seems to work better to just mix with #2 instead of more kero

in bulk at 3. 00 a gallon here, have not checked latey could be less (ya right)

did notice that #2 went up today 5cents per gallon but did find it for 247. 9 the cheapest in billings, mt Conoco went to 2. 529 with three refinerys in Billings, (why do we pay more then they pay in the rest of the state)

EXXON /CONOCO/ CENEX ? LIKE THEY CARE .

fuel update

Hello all

Just thought I would update on this.

Monday Am. 19 deg out (the weatherman got me good)

Pluged filter about 10 min in to my drive (Idle only no power)

pulled filter replaced filter ran great the rest of the day .

weather is in the 40/50 and it is running just fine. Colder weather on the way tonight took 15 gallon out of tank and replaced it with #2 not sure of the mix this should be ok to run in the colder weather.

the 04 truck has had the lift pump put in the tank can some one advise me on where to hook up a fuel presure gauge pre filter and post filter thinking that if l had gauges l could have cought this a little sooner.

MONTANA WEATHER !!

today is 19 to 45 deg's

by sat its going to be 45 to 65 deg's

then its going to be cold after that. and it's spring!!!!!

when the filter is not pluged it runs fine . :)

CJ:

Did you ever get around to pulling injectors to see if DSE has any effects? Also, what is the damages if you unknowingly get some partially hydrogenated oil and get it into your truck? I am just in the process of building my filtration system and these questions just came to mind.

Thanks BL

fuel

hello

I have not pulled the injectors yet wating to be able to run more blend in the truck having problems running much over 50% in the winter

the only problem you wil have with hydrogented oil is your filters will plug in about 5 min from start up if you heat the oil in the tank and keep in warm to the injector pump it should run fine

if you reserch what hydrogetned oil is , you would want to burn it but keeping it warm is the hard part

as far as cleaning the filters no i dont/ i get the in case lots its just one of the costs of trying some thing differnt there about 11 bucks each only a little over 3 gallons of #2 diesel

fuel filter heater

Hello

Over the weekend I thought of a few things to keep the fuel warm, in the filter is the spot that it is the problem (sure there will be others)

The problem is that the fuel is pumping ok but the filter is pluging with cold veg oil, once the temp is above 25 deg's it seems to be better.

I found a product that might take care of this plus put some extra heat in to the fuel. (from all the reading I have been doing you don't need to heat your veg oil or waste veg oil to 170 deg's to stop it from coking the injectors Diesel Fuel will coke the injectors ,if you think about it there is no way to inject cold oil in to a diesel engine, yes at first there is a small amount that is cold but as soon as you start pumping oil there is heat just by pumping the oil under pressure. don't belive me start your engine and place your hand on the tube running from the main pump to the common rail) JUST A LITTLE HEAT IS NEEDED TO GET THE FUEL PAST THE FILTER.

It's a small Heating pad that runs off of 12 volts and is applied to the fuel filter or wherever you want it.

Here is the web site http://www.arctic-fox.com/sitepages/pid55.php

the cost is around one hundred bucks not to bad .

thinking I will wire this in to a hot wire on only when key is on then running another switch to turn it on and off as needed .

Should be here this week will post pic when installed.

Take a look at these guys:

http://www.hiheat.com/

I used to carry them but I believe they deal direct with the customer now.

They will build you something in most any shape or wattage needed at a reasonable price. They may have something off the shelf that would be lower cost than a custom product.

cj,

Good thinking. Do you think the lift-pump in or near the fuel tank could use a little help?
