cetane

hello tom

fppf is the company name. FPPF

fppf is 45 to 55 % the other stuff is there mix

the stuff from amalgamated is 100% Amalgamated, Inc.

get the amalgamated if you going to get cetane boost

also the good amsoil cetane is the same as amalgamated cetane boost.

its all 2EHN

hello fourwheel1

yes it has an arctic fox fuel tank heater on the tank.

It also has an F. A. S. S. Fuel pump 150/150 heated this should be a 150/95 and the coolent lines that run from the engine to heat this stuff up has the fuel line running in the bundle of hoses.

This is for the winter time in Montana the lowest temp this year has been -20 is truck , really all of the trucks ran great the 05 dodge is all stock on the fuel side the only thing it has is a smarty on it. mine the 04 has the most mods on it with a smarty then my friends 01 is running the same as mine heated tank/heated fass the works. NO SMARTY ON THIS TRUCK.

hope this helps you

smarty

Helllo Sled Dog

The smarty is set on 5 its my wifes truck she drives it and thats the setting she likes.

You have to be able to control your right foot but some times its hard to do seems to be a lot of black marks at stop signs around town

It was on setting 3 but she thought it had a dead spot in it changed the fuel filter and set it on 5 she never said another word.

I have not been posting much nothing new to report the trucks are running great just working on the centrifuge project at this time.

But I am here

CJ really glad to hear the 2EHN thins the oil. Can you tell if the 2EHN is helping with noise, smoothness, smoke, cold morning startup, etc. ?

I need to run a higher percentage of WVO/DSE blend now that diesel prices are soaring. I'm about out of normal Amalgamated additive so this is a perfect time to get both ordered up!

As far as different rigs burning veggie mix the 6. 2L Blazer with Banks turbo burned it well, had no effect on drivability. The IDI engines supposedly do better with veggie oil than direct injection diesels like our Cummins.

fuel thinning

Hello Vaughn

Yes it thins the oil but it costs to much to do that the cost with shipping is 25. 60 per gallon . as far as smoothness, smoke, cold morning startup this stuff is great. I have not noticed if there's less noise.

The additive you run from them is what I just ordered a TDR-S blend to replace the power service in the blend this will raise the cetane up to 6 points in diesel with the 8 oz that I add this might just be to much we will see soon. this will be added at 14 oz per 40 gallons this alone will save a bunch of money in the long run

the total additives added to the oil

Gasoline 6 gallons @ 3. 099 $18. 59 Price in Billings this will drop to 4 gallons soon for summer.

Cetane 8 oz @ . 20 $1. 60

tdr-s 14 oz @ . 215 $ 3. 01

mock dse 6 oz @ . 0468 $. 28

total of 23. 48 per 40 gallon batch of oil this will net you 46 gallons of fuel for a cost of . 5104347 per gallon or 52 cents per gallon

diesel today is 3. 639 in billings so thats about 3. 12 per gallon in savings

If you get a chance look at a product for me its MMO- Diesel Additive. I bet you just roll on the floor when you se the msds sheet. I DID.

We need to get together and buy the additives in bulk say 275 gallon totes and then split them up. Drive back and pick it up less freight and a road trip.

I have 12 totes so we dont need to buy them back there.

cj hall

CJ, I was just thinking today, if anyone was road-tripping back to Indiana someone could pick up some drums of the additives. Back in 2004 the NW Bombers bought a 55 gallon drum and it was gone in no time, we divvied it up. The Idaho Bombers did the same thing. I like road trips, if I had the time heck I'd go get some! 4 years ago it cost $200 per barrell to ship to Seattle, if you get 4 barrells or more it's cheaper to drive out there and get it. Might have to think about this. . .

CJ

I have noticed that when I have a slight spill of my fuel, like on top of a barrel, and it sits for a while, it will dry up and leave a kind of sticky residue. Is this normal or am I getting some bad oil? like maybe a high sugar content. That thought kind of scares me, remembering what sugar will do to a gasoline engine.

Thanks Bill

fuel goo

Hello Bill

Thats what veg oil does in the air this is what people worry about but it takes weeks to happen the gasoline in the blend cuts it and won't happen in the tank the stuff you got had gasoline in it but it went away the air took it and now its vegetable oil.

its ok clean it up when its spills and you will be fine.

pictures of my fuel

Hello to All

Here are three pictures of my fuel once I get done with it.

The picture of the two samples side by side , The one with the straw is Ice Tea. This is what all my fuel look's like before I use it. The sample will be used in the next two weeks.

just thought you would like to see what the fuel should look like.

CJ

That sample looks really good. My fuel is coming out a little darker than that. I am not adding the RUG yet. Maybe that is the difference.

Bill

Mine is darker too, but probably because my oil is often a fat slurry before I "process" it and it seems to end up darker.

I sent a check to Amalgamated last week for the cetane additive and winter TDR blend.

good oil

Hello to All

Heres the lowdown on the Vegetable Oil the place I get the oil from changes the oil twice a week I pick up the oil and its only used monday thru thursday or friday thru sunday.

This gives me about 35 to 40 gallons of oil per week the rest of the oil I get will finish off what I need to fuel the three trucks I have been very lucky finding oil and it's all very good oil.

If I wanted to drive out of town say 200 miles I could get another 400+ gallons of this oil per month. they have 4 stores.

I am out of town we drove to Jackson Hole Wy for ice skating the truck ran great. The overhead is reading 15. 3 MPG and is slowly going up we had a head wind most of the day, Thinking its not to bad for mileage this was at 75 to 80 mph. and at . 52 cents per gallon its great.

Just before we left Billings, a freind of mine called me and he ask if the fuel would work in a chevy 6. 5 diesel we was hoping it would I had some fuel and told him will lets give it a try, put 15 gallons in the truck and away he went will be posting on this and the other trucks when I get back home and get more info to pass on.

thanks for reading

My oil comes from the cafeteria at the hospital I work at and they change it once a week, about 8 gallons on average. The quality varies significantly. . . some weeks it's clean and clear, other weeks it's so fat-heavy it's a soft white solid at room temperature. It can be scooped with a spoon. Most of the time it's somewhere in between, it's a cloudy, thick liquid.

The solid stuff I put to the side and use in warmer weather. I've found if I take the heavy solid and heat it, put double the chemicals in and a cup of gas per 4 gallons and "cook" it for awhile, then mix with 50/50 clear veggie oil (heated & treated at the normal rate it) ends up almost 100% liquid and solid-free once cooled to room temperature. By the time it's mixed in the tank with a little gas and diesel it remains clear. So I've been able to make use of some pretty hard crisco. . . can hardly call it "veggie" since it's high in animal fat. . . kinda smells like chicken :-laf

I only use the crisco-quality stuff if I'm going to fill up right when I make it, that way it'll mix in good with the gas and diesel when I go to top it off. That's what I did today, mixed up some pretty heavy stuff and then after 12 gallons of the mix it took 3 gallons gas & 9 of diesel to fill up. Counting the chemicals I used for the process and the fillup costs it came to $55. It would have cost $94. 30 today if I filled with just diesel (paid $3. 92) so I saved almost 40 bucks with about 40 minutes' worth of effort.

Heating the oil to 200-220F. I don't think there is water in the white solid, there may be a little moisture content but not to the level to be a concern IMO. If it's cold in the garage I do get a small amount of steam sometimes, but it doesn't smell like water steam. . . I think it's from the kerosene & chemicals mixed in.

Diesel fuel is hydrophilic, I'll bet it has as much or more moisture content than the WVO. I believe it is heated to ~300F in the fryer, so that should keep moisture driven off naturally.

mileage

hello to all

I started running this fuel at 32000 miles I did have to run 3000 miles on #2 early on. so lets say 35,000 miles

The truck has 71,385 I just picked up the vegetable oil form last week and it needs an engine oil change.

so the 04 has 36,385 miles on vegetable oil. :):):)and they say this won't work:rolleyes:

the 05 has around 14,000 on it

it does not get driven as much as it should.

fuel in bigger amounts !!!!

hello to all

got a phone call last night from a person that wants to make his own fuel he and his wife came over to the house and I showed them the process he thought it was just great that you can make fuel from waste vegetable oil.

his problem is he does not want to build the units to do this and he does not want to take the time. he has 500 gallons of canola oil (the good stuff) and they get 10 gallons every two days

looks like I need to be able to process more oil right now.

any way he wanted to try my fuel so we put ten gallons in his tank the truck was running its a 2nd gen 2001 24 v he was standing by the front of the truck when the oil hit the engine and it did its job. he was jumping up and down like a little kid at christmas . the engine started to run smother and with less noise.

we went in the garage and talked some more and he will be getting the heated tank and the works to make his fuel work all year long .

looks like this 4. 00 a gallon fuel might just make some people start thinking maybe it will work on some thing different.

the 6. 5 chevy is running just fine and he wants to start burning this fuel also

this will make 7 trucks running this blend in billings 5 dodges 1 ford and 1 chevy.

looking at a lot of oil to process soon.

thanks for reading.
