Looking like a nice setup CJ. Definitely more of a project than I'm looking for. But one question about the centrifuges, how does the oil cycle in and out of them, is it a continuous steam of oil running in, taking a few revolutions then draining out? Or is it done in batches. . . oil in, spin, drain, repeat?

The oil is in the 55 gallon drum its's heated to 120 degrees and it goes in the top of the centrifuge this put it in the bowl where it stays for a good spin it will take a quart of oil to fill the space in the bowl this is where the filtering takes place also the dewatering then the oil spills over the top of the spinning bowl and collected in the outer part of the unit.



After this happens the clean oil will go to the small drum and then pumped to the storage.



If you want you will be able to rerun the oil as many time as you want but really if you want to make sure its clean run the oil thru the centrifuge slower

I wiil start out really slow around 2 to 3 gallons per hour then work my way up to as fast as I can run it but still be getting clean oil.



Yes this is a big unit but my plan is to process the oil as soon as I get it some days I get 200 TO 300 Gallons of oil.

Just checking, are those water heater rods running in the bottom of the tanks and are you running a thermostat? Are you only using the H2O rods just for the WVO or with the dse MIX.

heating oil

Hello Mr. Wilson



The heaters in the tanks on the centrifuge are some thing I found last weekend they are from an airline that is no longer and I went to the sale.

The airline used them to heat engine oil for ?



They are 1500 Watt heaters with an over heat thermostat. I got four of them for 15. 00 each.



They are for only heating the oil. the other stuff will only be added in after the centrifuge.



On the pipe fittings on the heating unit and mixing unit I used just black steel with bronze ball valves Stainless Steel pipe and valves would be better than steel but the cost is not worth it . GALV Pipe is no good the oil will peel the zink off the pipe. copper is said to turn your fuel green but I think its the only in biodiesel and it's the chemicals they use to make it.



I do have some SS on the centrifuge it was old stock and the price was cheaper then the steel stuff. I think they wanted it out of stock so they gave it to me at a loss.

centrifuge is running

Hello to All



Thanks to some good friends,really good friends I was able to get the unit up and running this week end yes I will have to get the frame work powercoated but that can wait.



At 4:30 tonight we got the first centrifuge up and running and adjusted to run at 3 gallons in 20 min or 9 gallons per hr . at 6:00 tonight we got the 2nd

one running jumping up to 18 gallons per hr.



this is slower than I wanted but this was the first time I have ever been around a centrifuge.



Here are some new pictures of the new toy and I think the last pictures will tell you if it works or not the crud is about 1/8 of a inch thick and as hard as clay.

Will be making fuel with this oil in the next few days after a good filtering to see if the centrifuge works as good as I think it did. I have about 120 gallons made right now and with this oil I have another 100 gallons to make

My question is what brand is your centrifuge, a simplecentrifuge brand centrifuge? I would like to go from my dieselcraft to one of these units that is NOT fluid driven, any info would be great, thanks!

The heaters are working great, I like the fact they will cycle on and off and they are adjustable temp wise.

Band Heaters like I use on the other units will work good also there are some very cool units on the web site and I would try them all if I had more money.



heating oil with a water tank heater thats about what this is never seemed like a good idea but the price of the heater changed my mine on this and now I see the way they heat, will Stuff happens.



give it a few months and if I have zero problems with them then ok.

Dieselcraft Centrifuge

Hey there CJ, just got back in town. Nice set up you have..... I think. Looks like a science lab or something... . still nice though. Here are some pictures of the Dieselcraft Centrifuge and the heat exchanger that mounts on the pump. It works really good. Mine doesn't heat the oil as fast as they claim but I think the reason is due to not having any insulation around the barrel. I've been starting the centrifuge when the oil's about 90 degrees and everything seems to be working fine. I ripped out the filtering station and set up a stand. I think I'm gonna mount the centrifuge on a cart so I can roll it back and forth between barrels.



The heat exchanger I paid $150 for, but take a close look and you can build one for about $50. All it really is, is some 2" and 1" black pipe, a few couplers, with a thermostat and hot water heater heating element inside. It was a good idea, I wish I thought of it. I'm gonna build one next weekend. Anyway, I hope all is well on the home front. Happy Father's Day... ... That contraption you have in your garage must be classified as your baby.



So here are the pictures, its not a complex system, but it is cost effective. I wasn't sure it would be, but I have to say that I'm very happy with my Dieselcraft product.

I just got done talking to the person that made the centrifuge parts for me He and I are going to bulid a few more units to sell



The price will depend on what all we put on the units and if we powercoat the units or not.



If you have any thought on what we should put on the units or what some of you might want on the units.



we are just making the the yellow parts in the pictrues you will need to supply the tanks and pump or whatever you want to use.



also I will be putting the price together for a complete unit this will be a single unit not the two in one that I build for my use.

But it at least opened my eyes to look for more info and a better way. I found the TDR forum from reading forums on biodiesel. infopop of all places. They have no sense of humor or class over there!

Hey CJ,



My dieselcraft cleans oil fantastically, it is also a great setup, but I have had some problems with oil spills, or jets clogging in centrifuge then causing pressure to spike enough to dent lid, then break seal at bottom, dirtying the oil again. I prescreen the oil like they recommend, but sometimes a jet or two will clog. No damage is done with this, but I feel like I cannot leave it going while I am gone, or something might happen. I have had too many problems with this in the past, so I am looking at getting something like you have there. I believe that could be more trusted than my dieselcraft.

I am just starting to build a units for two people one in Cal and one in Mt. The c/f units are in shipping and should be here soon,along with the pumps for each.



The plan is to use 55 gallon drums with heaters installed in the drums and then mount the dieselcraft centrifuge in the drum with the mounting plate the plumbing will be like all the others hoses and the there will be another pump for filling the fuel tank this will have a water block filter installed on it.



I will be trying one change in the way the oil is run thru the by pass if it works then it should cut some time off how long you would need to centrifuge the oil. I had a good 1 1/2 hr talk with the Dieselcraft people and my idea should work .



all of this will be mounted on a cart for moving it out to the car / truck.



These units will be great for those who only need 30 to 40 gallons per week. if you want to make more then one would need a storage unit to put the finished fuel in to start a new batch in the centrifuge right away.

should be only two weeks to put this all together so we will have a better idea shortly on this.



I am using the simple centrifuge for my oil and it is running great. I have sent pictures to the owners of simple centrifuge for them to post on there web site.

The machine shop that built the housing for the motor and bowl has the price for me on building more and we are thinking about making three more I will be talking to them next week about this and I will post the info as soon as I get the info.
