Differential Oil Change Intervals.

I know the centrifuge thing is about cleaning the WVO better than filters and also not having to go through so many filters but it would be interesting for someone with the gear to pass the oil through a 10 or 20+micron filter then use a cetrifuge to see what was left in the oil after the filter. .

I'm really interested in this stuff and I'm setting up a system. Centrifuge is the ticket but clogging up a dieselcraft centrifuge jet would be a bummer.

BTW

Thanks for all the cool info

ponder this

What if I make a batch of fuel like I did before the centrifuge.

twelve hr of heat then twelve hrs of filtering at 5 micron then pass it thru the clean centrifuge and see what we get out of the oil.

and if I time it right I can use a dieselcraft unit to test it also.

would that be a good test to see if it's clean.

I am game for this.

fuel

Hello to all

I have been making fuel and building a centrifuge the new unit is allmost done the frame is at the power coater and should be done this next week it will take a few hrs to put together and then we will test it. as soon as it is done I will be posting pictures.

I am just finishing the longest run of the simple centrifuge so far, started the oil at 12 noon on friday its 11:30 Sat night I have 200 gallons of clean oil 200 gallons of oil ready to burn. Will be running it another 6 hrs to finnish the oil in the centrifuge. Stoped the unit to look at the bowls and to see if they needed to be cleaned they looked fine only about 3/16 of an inch of crud at 24 hrs. The oil I am using has been sitting in totes for about one year so its well settled oil. 120 gallons was picked up on friday so its not as settled as the oil in the totes.

what I have found is the centrifuge does a great job cleaning the oil and the a small amount of reg bag filtering as the chemicals are mixed in makes the oil clear and ready to burn I will pull a sample and take some pictures of the difference.

filtering vs centrifuge

Hello to All

I took samples of the oil we made this weekend.

the pictures say a lot about the filtering vs the centrifuge

they work great both ways the only thing is the heating and filtering took over 24 hrs.

the Centrifuge took 4. 5 hrs to do the same amount of fuel.

This is a time savings but the cost of the unit will thats another question.

what we have is 5 pictures

the first is all four samples side by side wvo / 5 micron filtered / centrifuge oil/ blend fuel ready to burn.

thanks for reading and enjoy the pictures

dieselcraft centrifuge

Hello to all

Here are a few pictures of the dieselcraft centrifuge unit I just got done building.

it will be shipping out later next week if all goes as planed.

I am testing it to make sure it works and it seems to be running just fine

more on this later.

fuel/centrifuge

Hello to All

Nothing new to report the trucks are running fine and there are a growing group of people that are turning to vegetable oil as an additive to strech their fuel dollars.

Working on the Diesel Craft Centrifuge Project its done and working but I am going to make one change to it I was not happy with one aspect of the oil it was not as clear as the oil I get out of my simple centrifuge. It cleans just as good but there is a fuel polishing that happens with the bigger units and I want to see if I can get the same with the smaller one before shipping to the customer.

I will post new pictures as soon as I get it done should be in the nex few days

CJ, Nice. Very nice.

I just finished my DieselCraft set up as well. It does resemble yours, but lacks that finished look you've achieved.

CJ, very nice set up! Have you put a price tag on it yet? Im not sure I will have the time to make my own setup, I work "on the road" so not home much. I am in the process of trying to find WVO, so far just 10 gal. per week, but its a start. Found another 20gal per wk but it turned out to be hydrogenated. Told the guy it wouldnt work for my set up,he told me he would change to the clear oil for me, if there wasnt a price diferance. I told him I would consider paying the diferance. I havent checked the price dif. so i didnt comit to it just yet. Thank you CJ, and to all who have put much time and effort into this project!!! Edgeman

Price

Hello Edgeman

I have a good idea of the price but with the change it will be a little more next week I will get a firm price to you.

Thanks

change to dieselcraft unit

Hello to All

What I added was an return line to the drum running from the fuel filter and water block filter a tee after the filter head 2 ball valves piping then a flex hose up to the top of the drum and then back in to the drum. this change added the extra filtering needed to clean the oil.

I could get the oil clean but it took longer then I liked with this change it cut the time down to 2 hrs in the centrifuge and 2 hr filtering. before the change it took 6 hrs to clean the oil.

All the oil was run thru my simple centrifuge to see if it was clean and both batches came out clean no other crud was found.

The batches of oil were both oil from the same place and thirty gallons each.

I will post pictures soon as I can. Pricing to follow.

CJ that is a great looking setup, glad you got it cleaning well, I was going to say that if you didn't, I was going to suggest that the oil draw pipe be changed to the bottom center of the barrel to be sure that you are drawing off all the dirt (from what I read on the biodiesel. infopop. cc website on dieselcraft setups), but you seem to have that solved! Good job.

diesel craft centrifuge

hello to all

Here are the pictures of the unit I made a few changes to it in the last few days and I have got it to work the way I wanted it to.

As for drawing off the bottom of the drum that would be a great idea and I will keep that in mind for the next one if needed. Thank you Jcobb

I am getting 99 % of the crud there will be a little stuff left in the drum and I really don't think it will be a problem. the only way to get the fuel out of the unit is to go thru a filter and its rated at 7 mircron the can be changed to a 3 micron if needed.

stuff AND things

Hello to All

Here are some pictures of the new wall set up for the centrifuge it has an O Ring in the top for the lid to seal on to. The one's I have running do leak a little and I will be doing the same to them when I tear it down for Powder Coating.

The dieselcraft unit is all cleaned up so I won't be able to get a video of it running ,SORRY

All the trucks are running great and there are no changes made in the fuel.

fuel and trucks

Hello to All

The trucks are running fine there are a few new trucks runing the additive/fuel

A Big Bud Tractor this is one of those tractors used for dry land farming when I put the fuel in it it had about 100 gallons of diesel in it and I put 250 gallons more, this did not fill it up there was about 12 to 14 inches more to go. 2/250 gallon tanks, 2000. 00 to fill it up at todays red dye price. #@$%!

The other is a Toter Home built on a Volvo with a Cummins engine n14 500 hp

along with 2 more fords both with 7. 3

The last is a freightliner truck with a detroit in it not sure of the engine size.

Hey Craig,

Got back to SC without any filter changes and still running on your fuel. Will be setting up a 240-gal tank to hold raw oil for settling before filtering and heating. Will get a centrifuge next pay check I think. Now have 4 oil vendors which generate about 40-gals a week.

Thanks,

Ken

DSE Additives

Hello to ALL

I was asked to reprint the additives I use in the blend of fuel and so here it is.

As you know I have been blending vegetable oil in to a fuel and using it for about three years. I started out using the DSE product and blending the way they told me this was fine up to the time kerosene got to 4. 00 dollars a gallon.

I use a Mock DSE Additive and blend a lot different.

I started looking at what the kerosene really did for the vegetable oil and why it was needed. what I found was that it thined the oil very little and added a needed compound , Cetane back to the oil this was needed to off set the octane of the gasoline.

at this point I started looking at what is cetane and how to get it in high %

will what I found was cetane boost and it works great. and I also at about the same time started looking for a replacement for the powerservice additive this was getting hard to find it was about two months off the shelf at walmart because of the usld product change it needed a sticker saying it was ok to use in the 2007 trucks.

I found a product that was cheaper and you used less of so it was better then the powerservice stuff.

Here is the company and person I talked to about the products:

Amalgamated Inc.

The contact person is Randy Walker.

-- email address removed --

phone number 260-489-2549

The New Mix I use. for forty gallons of oil

Gasoline 3 gallons (5 gallons for WINTER TIME USE) This might be changing also I will keep posting on this.

Cetane 8oz this replaces the the kerosene

TDR=S 14 oz or 32 oz of the power service (gray bottle)

Mock DSE 6 oz

The last time I ordered this was July 14, 08 the cost was 80. 45 for the Cetane boost (5 gallons) and 135. 73 for the tdr-s additive (5 gallons) PLUS the shipping and was told the price was going higher buy the end of the month.

you can by this in 55 gallon drums one drum of each without shipping runs about 1600. 00 and that was three months ago.

also you can but these chemicals in 275 gallons totes and in tanker truck amounts.

I hope this helps

update on fuel and stuff.

Hello to all

I have been making fuel and I also moved to a bigger shop. its a 40x60 shop and I am on the back corner of it . The floor is almost done and the power is up and running we need to light it and get it ready for winter but is comming along. the lister engine and gen will be late next year so then we can make power and save some money.

My plan for getting more oil is working good and I will be getting set up to handle it faster the plan is for 6 more Centrifuges these will be only be used for vegetable oil only the two that I have now will be used for Engine Oil and ATF cleaning these will have a new power unit that will make it easer to spin the oil faster or slower and I will be telling every one what they are as soon as I get them and test to make sure they work good.

I have sold two complete simple centrifuges in the last two weeks these both were sold in montana and it is nice to see thet people are looking at this different its not that they are trying to be green they are going to save some green.

Plans for a new style heater will be put together today and tested later this week this will cut down on heating 55 gallons of oil and we will only heat 1. 5 gallons at a time.

All the trucks are all running great and the farm tractors are all running just fine.

the lastest is a Gleaner Combine with a air cooled diesel DEUTZ V8 he has 1000 acres left to harvest and he will be trying the fuel in it. Then in mid Sept he will be back in the big bud tractor burning up more oil.

New Injectors

Hello to All

My 2004 truck is sitting in the shop tonight back in May I went to Bozeman, Mt for an ice skating camp for my nine year old on the way there I pluged a filter and took out an injector it was working ok just had a ticking sound when the engine was at an idle.

I put some diesel fuel in the tank last week to see if it was dirty or hurt and as soon as the new blend hit the injectors I knew it was hurt the sound went from a small tick to a big one and you could tell it was an diesel truck. SORRY but it sounded like an 12 valve engine.

Any way I took it to the dealer and told them what I thought it was they said they would look in to it . #3 was the one that was ticking we shut it off and the sound went away.

They are putting in 6 new injectors and getting it back to normal for me.

I did get pictures of the old ones right after they took them out they told me that thay look like all the other ones they have been replacing with 79,000 to 80,00 miles on them the truck sitting next to mine is a 06 with 79,528 miles and has the same issues as mine had.

Here they are

Thanks for reading

I will keep you posted on this.
