I'm going with DTT, but still not sure 89 or 91. I use my truck as every day driver ( mostly highway) and tow my TT (7500 lbs)several times a year.

Thx Paul

89%

From your Signature, I would say the 89 would be the better, thats what I'm going with myself soon and my truck is comparable to yours I think. Either way your gonna love it. :)

Went with the 89 myself, as with my talk with Bill K, lots of stop and go driving around here. Give him a call he will help. :)

This is something I asked myself and the board a few weeks ago. I came up withthe same conclusion - 89% for me :). One reason is I don't tow much and another is my 295/75r16's. Stefan @ DTT agreed with me. even if I add more mods. (I'm planning on adding injectors as well as a comp)

A few people who are heavily Bombed here love their 89%.

If you don't mind a little more lag and you pull hard and heavy trailers - go with the 91%.

I posted the same question before I visited DTT. Bill K. convinced me that I should go with the 89% and I have been very satisfied! With the info you provided, you should be very happy with the 89% as well, but talk with Bill. Hope this helps, -Ken

I would suggest a 91% TC. I have a 93% TC (and love it!) but I don't tow much. I love the characteristics of this particular TC however, I also know others wouldn't.

BTW Mactruck, what axle ratio do you have?

John, I have the 3. 54 Ratio, which is why Stefan recommended the 89%. I've got enough lag as it is with the larger tires. Once I put in the larger injectors and a Comp, I'll have to get rid of my HY35 and go with an HX35 (even more lag :( )

Of course, Piers will be hearing from me for that ;)

talk about a quick response!

The reason I asked Mactruck, is because I need to reshod my Ram in several months or so and am currently considering BFG A/T 285s (again) or possibly 295s (on my 16x8 M/T Alcoa wheels).

Bog? What Bog? Just add more performance modifications!:D

I'm sticking with my 295 BFG's. They are great looking and fill those fender wells nicely. I haven't noticed as much lag with my EZ and I will notice it a lot less with my future upgrades ;) .

I too am also looking to get a set of M/T Challenger wheels. I wish they made them in a 9" width though :( Just in case I go Bigger ;)

Thanks for the info Mactruck. I may go with the 295s however, that would be absolutely the max! I don't want to go down that lifted truck road anymore.

Thanks for all the input. I can't wait to lose the junk factory converter. Shudder slip shudder slip... I'm sick of it.

I had the 91% installed. I don't know, but the shifts seem too smooth. Of course, I'm not pulling livestock and I don't get on it much. :D I don't think the 93% would be too much, but I haven't tried it. One thing I will say, when you start you truck and put it in gear, do you have to give it some pedal to get it moving? Not with Bill's TC! It's about 7-8 mph once you let off the brake! On a rough dirt road you might have to put it in 4 wheel low just to slow it down. Bumps and small hills don't slow you down much either, even if you wanted. And that's just a small part of the story. I love it!

With my 93% TC I travel @ 11-12. 5 mph on the flat section of gravel/dirt road leading to my place..... at idle! The efficiency of the 93% TC makes changing directions (i. e. , from any forward gear to reverse or vice versa), as well as going into Park interesting. I modified my parking procedure to eliminate the clunk (which comes with the extreme efficiency of this TC)... I now place the gearshift selector in Neutral, turn off the engine (when at or below 300 deg. F. EGT :D ) and then place the gearshift selector in Park.

The 93% TC is a bit harsher than the 91% TC although, as I stated before, it's my favorite. That said, the 91% model has just about the perfect balance of efficiency and driveability traits. I have not driven the DTT 89% model. At the time I had my DTT enhancements done (1-13-01) there were only two customers with the 89% TC however, the popularity of this particular converter has really taken off!

If you are in doubt as to which TC is best suited for your driving style, power enhancements and suspension particulars (i. e. , tire size/axle ratio) or its intended purpose (i. e. , hauling/towing, drag racing/sled pulling, general grocery getter or a combination of the preceding), Bill or Stefan can help you decide which would work best for you... just give them a call! Remember, DTT is not an off-the-rack outfit, they tailor each VB to suit your "profile"... a profile that has been compiled on (hopefully accurate) information provided to them by you, the customer.
