Just finished an 04. 5 48RE about a week ago, full upgrade kit, billet input shaft and matching t/c and v/b. Truck runs awesome and power transfer is outstanding. I love these trannies, you would swear you added a chip or injectors.

Thanks to Bill and Stefan for the support, and the whole DTT staff, a real class act.

You will really enjoy it when you tow something!! I hooked up to our 32+5 tandem dual gooseneck dovetail trailer and 4431 Geil skid steer from work and towed it home... . WOW you wont be disapointed!! the trans shifted perfectly how I wanted it to!!

Enjoy!! and congrats!!

Ian

ps- did you get the smart controller?

What is good or bad about doing a full DTT rebuild w/ billet input shaft and DTT valve body but using the ATS Viskus torque converter and lockup controller? Anything?

The only good point is meeting your personal preference... . if that is in fact your personal preference. There really is no bad point. Everything works fine together.

I guess I'm just falling prey to the cool factor of the ATS' CNC-machined stator and the idea that a 5 disk lock-up clutch pack is somehow better than the DTT single-disk. Though, I should save the extra money I would spend on the ATS TC and invest in the DTT lockup controller instead.

IC smoke,

no lock controller installed just the trans =

AK Ram,

we went with the single disc setup, i believe there are quite a few members putting some real power through their single disc without issue ;) this truck won't be extreme, 500-550 rwhp :)

I love my DTT. Best $$ spent. I don't know about the 5 disk deal, saw it at IRP and was wondering how the fluid gets between all those disks. When DTT has a transmission put in a truck w/ a single disk and it has been able to hold over 700 hp, why need 5? One's just fine!!!
