I am in the same boat right now as well. I reasearched DTT, ATS, Suncoast, Goerend, Protorq, TCS, Precision and many others.



Bottom line I decided to go with Dave Goerend's set up. Why because I thought it was the best for me, based on MY decision and research which went two months worth.



Each company I am positive sells a good product. To answer an earlier question about ATS's setup being untested I believe is an injustice as the technology has been on the race track for over 20 years as has the steel stators. It's like NASCAR's technology coming to the street. We all benefit from these discoveries and proven technologies before we see them on our applications.



Stephan brings up a good point compare apples to apples. Some companies warranties are the same set up a DTT's and others are longer, shorter or just don't have one.



I have specific comments, just my experiences, about each manufacturer that I researched that I won't post here as some would think I'm bashing and so far this transmission thread is doing good compared to the others. If you'd like my opinion you could email or PM me.

I think that was me you are refering to about ATS and "untested"... ...



Keep in mind that while the "triple-lock" principal has been around for many years... . ATS's implementation of it design wise and materials wise has not... ..... therefor my statement regarding ATS being unproven as yet... ... . I am quite satisfied it has proven itself in the short-term but I am not looking for what could be a short-term solution, not at these prices. Now in a couple years if there are no major issues and there are quite a few ATS transmission's rolling past their 100,000 mile mark then

Don't fall for the lower line pressure myth. ALL aftermarket companies uses higher line pressure. ALL of them. On similar set up's they're virtually identical. This has been debated, tested and even admitted my the companies involved.

(ime serious my wife likes purple) Ill bet anyone here 5 bucks that my way of picking a company equals yours. And if you dont think so, you have to prove it. Do you want the cutting edge of technology wherein you are essentially a beta tester since the technology has not yet proven itself with the passing of time and miles? If this is what you are looking for then ATS is your ticket... ... Not saying bad things here about ATS merely pointing out it is not proven technology as yet, not enough time, not enough miles. Do you want proven technology that has survived the test of time with millions of miles under its belt? If so then DTT is the ticket... ...

How many miles on a transmission is enough?



Does 200K+ qualify? with no repairs other than regular maintenance.



ATS has many customers that pull trailers all over the country for a living. The have been and are using their Triple-Lok TC without incident.



I will be installing my purple TC and the ATS stage-IV transmission with it. I have seen them in action and wouldn't put it in or recomend it if I didn't have faith in the product.



Before you make slanderous statements you really should do your homework first.

So how many ATS full transmission's w/TC have you seen with over 100k on them?



I dont doubt there may be a few by now, but a few is not good enough to suit me when I am investing 4 grand give or take. Matter of fact I have not heard of any of the TC's failing as yet..... But I have heard of more than one of the transmission's giving up the ghost... ... ATS's products may well prove to be the best thing since canned beer..... I dont know. But perhaps by the time I get ready to buy one we will know for sure if they stand up to the test of time... ...

I don't go chasing down trucks and asking what transmission they have. I call Clint Cannon when I want the answer to a question. . Why don't you call and ask how many customers have over 100k on his trannies? 1 800 949 6002.



It's much more effective than accusing him of abusing his customer's pocketbook.

Since we develop power here at our shop, and didn't do transmission stuff for a good while, we got to see customers come and go with just about everything out there. After hearing the experiences with the kind of power our products developed and how many of these transmission setups handled it, we finally decided to get into the trans side of the business as well.



We had a hard time finding competent people locally, that could do the work and setup properly. This eventually led to us finding what we believe is the best company with the best products on the market for the Dodge transmissions.



After extensive testing and training, we are now an authorized DTT installer. It's the only trans we will sell, and the only thing we use here on our own trucks to put the power to the ground.



Good luck in your decision - it's a tough one. Just thought I'd throw another experience in the pot.

How many miles enough, well I have a 87 Ram Charger with 190,000 and it aint never been out of the truck and it works and hunts hard.

For a guy that just putts around you bet 200,000 maybe 300,00 or even 500,000 is the answer. My 93 Ford Diesel has 237,000 miles and shifts perfect also. Never been out the truck. Oil changed once a year and pulls Hay all summer

My 96 Dodge 5 speed is apart as we speak POS cant keep 5th gear with a stock engine.

My 99 brings me to work and pulls my Horses and camper around.

So why cant we have a trans in our Cummins powered trucks that last more than a few thousand miles

I'm in the Hay field most of my life and nothing I own gives me as much pleasure and pain as these 2 damn Dodge trucks.

When a man spends his hard earned money, where I come from you want a product that stands the test .

I'd put a horse down that treated me like these Dodge transmissions do.

The fact alone that you are an authorized transmission shop for DTT says a LOT about the quality of your work. If I or anyone else comes to your shop to try and get an ATS transmission will you do the install? Can ATS refer customers to you? From what I have seen, once you become an authorized DTT shop, you are forbidden from installing anything from ATS regardless of what the customer wants.

And that is a business decision on there part. I am willing to bet that there are other shops out there that would like the freedom to sell parts from both vendors, based on what the customers want. I dont think this option is available.



And this is a good question for DTT. Can a shop that is an authorized DTT vendor install ATS trannies?? Even if the ATS transmission comes ready to install? Could a vendor be listed as both an Authorized ATS and DTT installer

I know of a shop that sells DTT and BD parts... Owner told me he prefers the BD TC's as they look better and are stronger

One thing I know for certain... ... you do not have to be an "authorized" DTT facility for DTT to support your working with there equipment. I believe you do have to be "authorized" for DTT to "recommend" you as an installer under most circumstances.....
