The efficiency of the TC is measured in different ways by different vendors. BD states their TC is 95% efficient however, the DTT 93% TC is actually quite a bit more efficient. In fact, Bill Kondolay tells me their steel stator TCs put 40% more power to the ground than ANY OTHER TC on the market. I have driven one of BD's "95%" TCs and believe me, there is a big efficiency difference between my 93% TC and their (lesser) counterpart. Nowell (HVAC) has a special DTT TC that is about 94. 5% efficient. Even with the kind of power he is putting to the road, the extreme efficiency of his TC tries to stall the engine (at idle).
