DTT transmission in 3rd gens?

I want to hear from those of you that have done the DTT in our 3rd gen trucks. Basically the question is... Would you do it again?

Having one installed in three weeks. I can't wait to have it. Everyone I've talked to that has one, said it was the best mod they did to there truck. A night and day difference, espically if you pull anything heavy. If you decide to do it, do everything (TQ, VB, billet input/output) it's the best thing to do if you ever decide to bomb your truck. I'll post a thread after I get it done.

Yep!!! Im not going to say you need a DTT, but if your chasing HP you have no choice you need someones built transmission. I wouldn't hesitate to buy DTT again, big time dollars but IMHO worth the bucks (if ya got 'em). Eight months after DTT install I can hardly stand to drive "stock slush buckets" gas or diesel, they all feel like they are broke!!! Make sure you choose an installer that you can trust and that will stand behind their work.

I've enjoyed my DTT for years now and had not driven a stock auto. until recently. It was an '05 48re and although improved from my 47re it was still mush. 1200 rpms before it moves. The most pronounced thing you'll notice is the "right now" throttle response similiar to a manual. I'd like to try a smarty when they come out. DTT and a Smarty should be really fun!

I am having my 05 done by Fred Swanson in Phoenix next week. This will be the second DTT that Fred has done for me. My '01 was awesome! I had to wait for the funds to come through for the 05 treatment. . They have and I can't wait.



I echo the previous comment about the 48re. It is a better trans that the 47 re stock. But, it does need a torque converter minimum...



I am getting the 89 percent torque converter, towing valve body, billet flex plate and input shaft plus other goodies

Yeah, I would do DTT again in a heartbeat! My buddy and I installed a DTT valve body, torque converter, billet input shaft, servo & piston last summer in my 2004 305 HO. The power gets to the ground right now! No more worries about upgrades, she's bullet proof... . I would do it again, in a heartbeat. DTT ROCKS!!!!!!!!!



P. S. Don't overlook the flex plate, I haven't had any issues but will be installing a DTT SFI billet flex plate in mine shortly... ... .

HA! Nice disclaimer! Way to CYA! I've talked to him a little bit about it. It's hard to figure out which one to go with. Everyone likes what they have, so that makes it even harder! ha. Maybe I could talk Joe into letting me ride in his beast. Thanks for the suggestion!

The reason is that it was recommended by by my installer Fred Swanson VIA Bill at DTT. I guess they are going with a stronger Torque converter cover and the Billet flex plate. I don;t know if that is just because I have a dually and TST etc... I will be around 500 Hp and towing heavy.



I will always defer to the experts and figure an extra 400 bucks on top of 4k is doable and like the piece of mind that goes with it...

In for an ounce in for a pound I always say. I'd hate to trash a DTT transmission because I broke the OEM flexplate because I skimped on the billet one. I only want to spend this much money on the transmission once!
