I pull with allot of Dmax's and they have all changed from modded CP3's to dual CP3's and was just wondering if any one is running them on a Gen 3. Seems easy to do. I haven't tried this, I took the easy route and just built a

p-pump motor because I was sick of getting beat by D-max's.

There was some talk about this a while back and it was thought that if you were to run dual CP3's piggybacked with a common shaft that the shaft wouldnt hold up due to the stress and pressure it takes to run the CP3? I wouldnt think they are that hard to drive but I dont know for sure. I think that would be an awesome way to go as to just getting more volume instead of high pressure.

The d-max's have a rail for each side, they just run a pump to each rail and I think most leave the 2 rails connected to each other to help equalize the pressure.

It can be done on the Cummins and is currently in the works.

I "heard" on another site that it takes almost 40HP to turn the CP3 at max PSI... I found this very hard to believe...

I'm wondering how they control the seconds CP3's Fuel valve thing.

Also, now the heck can a belt drive turn the same RPM's under all load conditions the SAME as a gear drive?

I suppose the second CP3 will always be a big lagged or under pressured from the main one.

Probably use a timing belt. What fuel valve thing? I wouldn't be surprised if it took 30HP and 40HP wouldn't be too far out there.

It's not a problem, you can get WAY more than 40hp out of a belt drive. However It doesn't really matter since all it is doing is supplying pressure and doesn't have to be exactally timed to anything. So as long as it's turning fast enough to keep the pressure up.....

They just use a standard 1" wide ribbed belt. There is a member on here that makes the pullys for the D-Max guys.

Agreed, they are more worried about the volume of fuel at the rail causing a real drop in pressure... the second CP3 would prevent the volume loss and hence prevent a significant loss in pressure... one would hope that with a combo like that you would never drop below the pressure of the lowest output pump...

2-CP3s

This is no doubt simplifying the issue too much but if you take a proven system as the D-max guys are using then is it not feasible to make a 2-pump system for the CR Dodge and run it to everyother cylinder (3 cyl per pump) and then also accommodate their proven balancing of pressure by having a Holley-like double pumper line that would feed each rail from it's respective pump and balance pressure in that line. Just a thought.

yeah, that makes sence.

now that I had some time to think about it. . them chubby guys do have a good idea. $4000 is alot of bones for an upgrade tho.

I'll take 2 cp3's over one a single modded one anyday. Especially since they want an arm and a leg for one modified one and with 2 you at least get redundency.
