I have been talking w/Marco on the VP44 thread about this...

It seems that the VP44 is capable of supplying a lot more fuel than we can burn. The trick is to have the proper injectors. You need HUGE injectors to be able to inject fuel fast enough. To spite common belief there are ways of getting a lot more fuel than just hogging out the holes on a factory set of injectors.

there is a point at which the retraction factor of the injector is too low to support the amout of fuel that the tip is able to flow. This factor has to do with the way the seat is cut. It must be manufactured to the factor necessary and cannot be cut because the seat must be case hardened. You can also custom cut the needles and change springs to affect the injection quality, quantity, and characteristics further.

At some point the injection timing of the ECM is going to be mismatched with the injectors so grossly that it will be detrimental to performace. The limit then becomes the program of the ECM not the injector and pump.

The boxes we add very slightly affect timing and can greatly affect duration of injection(making it longer). At some point the need to retard timing at Idle will exist and timing at higher RPM will need to be advanced more than our boxes can.

The stock ECM plateu IS coming. The larger injectors are artificially advancing timing and injecting tons of fuel fast. I forsee the point that stock duration of timing may be too long for opimum performance.

Sorry to drop off on such a long theoretical tangent.

Instead of picking the guys to death about how they are making power, I just want to say to all the heavy hitters that you'll are defying laws and making twice the power that I have and I have almost twice over stock..... this game has just started and if you thank I'm kidding look at it again in one year. This bunch is going to try different stuff over and over looking for that mark to the moon. I remember when 1000 HP in the gasser world was through the roof and now onlt 2 months ago had a gasser bud make 1980 HP out of a smaller cube big block with a Single 106 MM turbo.

Jim

Jfulmer,

I'm with you. I could care less how they (me;) hopefully) do it. I was just giving my opinion of where the quest for HP is leading.

I know what you mean... . with all the R&D and $$ being thrown at a whole bunch of trucks out there, someone is bound to hit the 1k HP mark before long... . Heck, we may even find a way to use a P7100 for primary injection... and turn on a VP44 when we really want to flow some fuel. :D

I'm sure the ECM issues will soon be solved... afterall, look how far the aftermarket has come with non-OEM ECMs (Accel-DFI, Speed-Pro, Motec, Electromotive, etc. )... . now you have 4 or 5 standalone choices as opposed to the old "one chip at a time" system...

Regardless of how it was made, it was still on diesel only.

They had the "drug pusher" injectors in there, meaning they were using them with nitrous so they are showerheads, which as I stated before there is that power/smoke threshold when using that large of an injector. This is just something I noticed in Vegas.

So the ones DD does have above the "drug pushers" is the barrior for the smoke/power? Now lets see, what are they called again, Monster Mentals? !Mega Mentals!..... that's it i think aint it?;)

No I would say the drug pushers themselves are over the power/smoke barrier. Not something I would want to drive around every day on. Super Mentals or BD IV's is the biggest I would want for daily driving duties. Thats with my single turbo anyhow, if I obtain twins at somepoint then I would have more air and therefore could comfortably run bigger injectors daily.

All of these huge injectors... ..... how long will they last? How long are they rated to hold their power? Will they lose any power?

Just something to think bout.

If its been done its being kept a secret, therefor it ain't been done.

If it has show "us" dragstrip timeslips or dyno sheets... ...

BTW do you plan on drag racing in Muncie? Just curious..... dyno?

Good Question. Hmm how long do stock Injectors last? Do they lose HP?

Darren

Well,I know of a IN puller who got over 950 on an engine dyno but blew a headgasket. And he was still still climbing, had plenty left.

And he won't show you a dyno sheet... so I guess it don't count, right Kat?

You arrogant, loud mouthed wanna-be's come to Muncie. We'll run 'em on the 300' dyno.

Yah,, I'm Thinkin' away here.

Merrick Cummings Jr

ouch, lots has been said here since my last post......

Kat, I agreewith you 100%. Doesn't DD warrenty their injectors for like xx,xxx miles? I can't remember but I thought they do.

Next,

msmtd, who are you? So your bud got over 787hp that he's going to dyno at Munice? Please let me know when this "950hp" truck dynos, i wan't to see the smoke.

I am not, least I don't think I am, arrogent. I have a fairly stock truck, think I'm even going to put it on the dyno? Havn't done a thing since the last dyno so why should I?

Merrick,

Having second thoughts?;) :p

I don't care bout a particular dyno sheet, if he or she did then fine, great, dandy... . but whose to believe'em without sometype of proof? Just like if I said... I made 850hp... . do you think everyone would just "believe" it? I highly doubt it.

If I can get out of work I'll be happy to come to Muncie. Oh and theres alot more to your 300' dyno then engine power, just like theres more then engine power in being successful at the dragstrip.

I couldn't have said it any better if I tried.....

Matt - 1. 21 Jigga-Watts (@ rear wheels with 48" Interco Super Swampers... . :D)

Seems to me that this guy that supposedly laid down 950HP would at least had a print out of the partial run before the head gasket blew. How else would he had known what HP he put down. Someones blowin smoke up our a**es.

HoleshotHolset,

1. 21 Jigga-Watts??? That's the amount of electricity required to make time travel possible. Where did you find a flux-capacater because I want 1.

Guess I have seen Back to the Future one too many times. :D

So imagne what TWIN flex capacaters could do!!!

I own it so you KNOW I've seen it too many times. :D

unless you drive off and away with no broken parts HP#'s don't mean squat--just means you got to a point and bang---now yes getting up there is awesome, but it's not a good #--you need to leave the dyno in the same condition as you drove on to it..... chris

Kat,

I won't dyno there, I have no reason to.

I may drag, if I don't break pulling, but I am concentrating on the sled.

I didn't build the truck to be a dyno Queen, and I'm afraid I'll get excited and dump that clutch drag racing and shatter things.

That sucker hooks.

I'll save it for Quaker City. :D
