If one were to put 2 tires on the left rear with 30 k more miles then the right side (1/4 to 1/2 inch shorter) would that be hard on the LSD? What Im trying to do is by a couple tires a year and put them on the front and rotate the older tires to the rear and eventually to the garbage. Any ideas. TIA Bill

Second what bmoeller said. I had slightly differnt size tires (szme size, different brands) on one side and the truck started pulling towards the side with the smaller tires so I know the LSD was working too hard.

Just a thought, Discount is running a 0% interest thing if you open an account with them.

Ya thats what I was thinking also. I know Im splitting hairs here but putting a tall and shorter tire together on a dual set will cause the taller tire to cary more weight. Bill

Atleast the taller tire will wear out faster :-laf

Bill, if you get a tread depth gauge, you'll see that the duals don't wear the same. Outside tires wear faster. Usually a 2 or 3/32 difference.

HUU, why would that be? Does it have something to do with the geometry of things? Bill

Here's a thought. Don't rotate them at all. Replace the fronts when they wear out and put a few bucks away each month so you can buy 4 at a time for the rear. How fast they wear out is a matter of driving habits, and how you use your truck, but my rear tires need to be replaced about every 100k and the fronts last about 140k.
