does anyone know if you can run a dully rear end on a single rear end truck i know the spring mounts will line up but not sure about the wheels bolting one and weather the wheels would be sticking out or in farther than a srw rear end

thanks

Ken- I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish... converting to a dually, or running a dually rear end with SRW wheels. If the latter, they will stick out about about 2" or so farther than "real" SRW's. Single rear wheel axles are the narrowest, followed by Cab & Chassis, with the widest rear axles being the duallies. For pics of how a 3rd gen looks with SRW wheels on a dually axle, go to post #29 of this thread: http://turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97232&page=2&pp=15

Hope this helps.

basacally what im doing is a have a 96 2500 and have the egr disk conversion and its a dana 70 and i just dont like it and want to go to a newer dana 80 with factory disk and i can get a good deal on a dully dana 80 and i was wondering if that would work

If you've measured the spring widths, I think your swap will work great, but I can't speak to all the issues surrounding the ABS, emer brake hookup, etc...

But your 2500's wheels will bolt up and just stick out a little further than your stock axle, like in the pic I referred to.

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out if you make the swap.

my buddy had this done on his 98. 5... it has the dually dana 80 with drums in the back of a 2500... only downfall that i noticed was that he then had to use 16. 5" rims for drum clearance... were as with the SRW disc brake dana 80 you can run 16"s... Like the 01-02 HO trucks...
