almost makes me want to buy a Volt

Tire chain info

Stock 3500 with edge. About 175k on the clock. we haven't had an opportunity to pull it down but I'm anxious to see what is left in the block.

my friend who has a machine shop has never seen a duramax in his shop..... im sure the owner of that motor did something abnormal to it..... with the tuner, that does not help... .

Well, I'm sure that since your buddy has never seen it, it couldn't possibly happen. Has he seen a HPCR 5. 9 drop a valve seat? Has he seen a dt 466 loose liner seals? How about vp 44's, has he seen one of those bad? Any engine can have any kind of failure, despite the best maintenance.

As to the failure we still haven't torn it down yet. When the new long block gets in ill swap components then I'll be a lot closer to diagnosing the failure. The customer was towing a large trailer at highway speeds for a long time before the failure. I'm thinking either an injectors failure hydro locking a cylinder, valve stem breaking or ?????

Yes as far as I can tell it was, at one time, a piston. I bet the rod looks pretty good as well!

At least they make the engines easy to pull. We can have a dmax on the ground in about four hours now. Worst part is the gd starter.

if its an 01 or 02 i got 20 bucks on a cracked injector body turning the injector into a blowtorch and melting the piston. they do that and when GM found out about the problem they put a 220000 mile warranty on the injectors. so after you pay for the rebuild they will send you a new set of faulty injectors.
