Competition duramax puts down 1000 hp

It is all good Matt. Most of the guys are good guys over there. I just guess there was alot more behind the scenes engine work that I had heard of. I only browse the competition section on the DP though. I enjoy the techinical discussions over there. Some of those guys have way too much free time. I was under the impression that Zedik and Big D were the only guys with much engine work. It seems like there were a few more than I had heard of. Your right Miller and Painter have more than just firerings and studs. I think they have injectors and their timing advanced a little bit. That is all that I know of :-laf . I wish my truck ran like Coppess and Amos's. I have set out this winter to do some turbocharger shoppin. The 66mm just isn't enough for the street class.

MW, are you smoking dope? $2500 billet rods + $1200 LBZ pistons.

That's less than $4000 (yes, FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS) :-laf

Plus engine R/R, machining for clearance, assembly, misc parts. I was quoted $8000. I apologize for not being clearer.

Keith and Nick have stated their builds were well over $20,000. That is not in dispute.

I am not Dmax bashing. I miss my Dmax alot. It was a great truck. I was there when Los Lobos (Karl) hurt his motor last year. Early this year I was quoted the $8000 for the rod/piston combo. I decided to take a different route.

I love my Dodge. 2-1/2 years and 44,000 miles of real truck. The high hp blowaparts on any engines don't phase me since I don't go there myself. It does look like the GM boys have their hands full though with the engines BLOWING UP :-laf . It's more than just the cost of engine upgrades, it's the time too.

I see GotJuice found the light :-laf

Most people around here just hit a deer or have their chevy "stolen" when they want to get rid of it. I see ya took the route of the chain saw "blown over tree". ;)

Doubtful.

Kyle03D in SuperStreet is probably our "great white hope" :-laf

Several of the recent big HP builds have gone awry, seemingly there's some snags in the tuning that may have led to those. As we see more billet parts being made and the tuning gets figured out, I think you could see some strong runners in the lower 3 DHRA classes.

I hear rumors of mod class trucks being built, but as far as I know, they're designs on paper for now.

The Cummins is going to rule that roost for some time, methinks.

After seeing a powerstroke, albeit a $150K (rumor) custom motor in the mod class, I guess anything is possible with a whole lot of money and a bunch of time. I thought it was great seeing that truck run with the dodges and would like to see a DMAX doing the same.

Hey if you like to have durascrap under the hood go for it, I'll pass. As for the Fords, don't hold your breath. I talked to a guy a few weeks ago who does promos for Ford and thee most they got before blowing the head off an '07 was about 15,000. He described blowing the head off as open the hood and seeing a gap between the block and the head with light on the other side. Of course all he could talk about was how much power they have and not the fact that he stopped at every station to feed the truck going down the road.

and somthing that will hold that power, and put it to the ground

in a few months you will able to order one of these D MAX engines dynoed , and ready to install in a racecar, boat, 70 chevelle , or truck. Just think of the possabilitys, a 57 chevy that runs 10's and gets 25 mpg

amazing how things jump off paper

one of my buddy's drivers had a bone stock Duramax that cracked a piston in half. I've also seen a high powered truck crack a piston, but I think there's a design/casting flaw if a stock truck will do the same thing.
