OK guys, I just got back from the Chebby dealer with the skinny on the new motor... According to "them", the block is GM, and the components are Izusu, so the conclusion for me, is a no-brainer! First, I used to run a construction company using heavy equipment. A couple of our trackhoes used 6-cyl. Izusu diesels. They were ALWAYS broken! Secondly, the new Durapuke will be a V8! This makes it, like the Ford, a non-choice! One more time guys... . let's all go down to the truck stop and start tilting hoods. How many V8's do you see? NONE!!! Why? Because they DONT WORK for diesel application!! I borrowed a 99 Powerjoke from a buddy (I was in a pinch)... what a gutless turd! And it got a whopping 10mpg pulling 5,000lbs and no wind resistance! Do I love the little Cummins motor? YOU BET!... but until Chebby starts using a 3126 Cat, and Ford starts using the Int. DT466E 6, the IS NO OTHER CHOICE!!!

GM produced the 5. 7L engine that single handedly destoyed the reputation of the diesel in the US. The 6. 5L was not much better.

GM should be banned from ever marketing or being affilated with Diesel power in the US.
