The duraslack boys over at the diesel place are sure whininng about our fellow Dodge bro laying down that 10:57 pass out west at some track because it is a trailer queen and not a driver, check out what this guy said: Certainly if it was a Duramax leading the charge, all you guys would be claiming "king of the world. ""
And you guys would be claiming "but he's spraying the hell out of the motor, so it's not real".
There's no doubt that is an impressive run. It's only time before the Duramax is in the same position! I know of one project that I think will be in that position very soon.
What Tomac is doing and what this Dodge is doing are two different things. Tomac is having fun *and* using the truck for daily driver/work. The Dodge on the trailer obviously is not a worker or daily driver, just a lot of money, time, and fun! I know of quite a few Dodges in the 11's though that are doing the same as Tomac. I think to break into the tens, any truck is going to have to be less streetable.
I have to laugh everytime I see a Cummins guy claim that for some reason, his ability to make horsepower on #2 only with a larger or second turbo is somehow better than the horsepower we make with nitrous. The only reason a lot of us are using the nitrous is to cool the motors and burn more fuel, which is EXACTLY the reason the Cummins guys are using a larger or extra turbo. Since we don't have the luxury of a hard component like a turbo to help us in that area yet, we have to do something different. You can be assured that as soon as we have other options and don't have to use the nitrous, there will be some new excuse from the Cummins guys why their ability to make equal or less horsepower to the Duramax is still somehow "better".
I'd be more than willing to dyno against any Dodge with one stock turbo and I'll leave the spray home, that will make things even. Now if you want the second turbo, or even an upgraded turbo, let me use the spray so that we are still on even playing fields. Sure, my truck is going to run hot, but so is yours. Even if I don't win, it'd be fun!
The Cummins is a great engine. I don't think you'll hear many Duramax people say otherwise. It's a solid engine that's been around for a long time. I don't think it will be king forever though.
With all that being said, I offer my congrats to Bill. He has definitely put in a lot of hard work (and money!) making that truck do that.
