Off Roading just got back with some new pics!!!

You guys run the most fuel so I thought this would be a good forum for this question. How long can a Cummins sustain high egt (greater than 1400-15-1600+) before the engine goes to hell in a handbasket?

I ask because I ran my tst with current mods on 9,9 and saw 1725 before I hit 30mph. Tst on 5,3 and I run a little over 13-1350 at wot. Just curious as to how long the truck can sustain high temps without damage to the engine?

What were your boost numbers? There's a guy running a similar combo with a ramifier stack up in the 3rd gen forums. Tomeygun. He runs the heck outta that truck, and I've never heard him worry about EGT's. (and he's got a 03so without the oil nozzles. ) Did ya just let up too soon? Maybe she'd a cooled off a little once the boost came up. (never ridden in an SPS66 truck. ) Oo. Give er a whack, hold on, count to ten and see what she does. :-laf

If you're looking for conservative suggestions, ya came to the wrong forum. :D

Well all i know on my truck i shulden't even have an egt gauge because it doesen't matter i don't let out until i win!!!

I hit well over 1500 and kept it there on the highway and got a nice glow out of the stacks. after a couple times doing that i needed to deck the block and needed a new head (hey ya wanna play you gotta pay)

Sure, if yer running a 10 second 1/4, eh Jake!!LOL

Don't sweat the small stuff. :-laf

Hey what can I say, you should try the Phat Shaft killer... . err. . I mean the Aurora 5000. As for 10's NOT quite there yet, i am going straigt into the 6's with my cummins powered chevy. LOOKOUT!!!

I used to see 1700* all the way down the track sledpulling.

Melting and cracking of pistons can be an issue (of course).

But, you can also drop a valve seat which will also kill a good engine quick or bust gaskets etc.

Just use common sense and don't let off until you see 300'! :-laf
