I had a wheel bearing go south so I decided to get the Free-Spin kit.

The Install intructions were ok but, they have install information for other applications which is always a pain. They have tools also listed that you don't need. 14mm 12 point socket must be for the earlier trucks on our trucks you need a 18mm socket. I had to buy a 1 11/16" 3/4" drive socket to get the spindle nuts off and just needed a 4ft snipe to break them with my snow brush wedged against the brake pedal. You also need a puller to remove the rotors and the old bearing. Big one for rotors and smaller for bearings. Patience is necessary to get the bearings off. Buy two ujoints in case you damage yours or just change them since you are in there. Other maintenance I would recommend would be ball joints and brakes if you have higher milage. You have stuff apart anyways. You also need two tubes of grease. (I used amsoil). You need loctite. Six point spanner socket for spindle nuts. Torque wrench. Antiseize, emery cloth, WD-40, brake cleaner,

I had to torch out my u-joints as they were original an then press them out. I went to use my brothers ujoint installer but it was too small for my ujoints. You can feel the difference the kit makes right away by turning the wheel with the hub locked and then unlocked.

I bought my ujoints and spanner socket from dyna trac. Less expensive and guaranteed to be the right ones.

Talk to Dan at ext 216. He is the fellow who set up the group buy at the TDR.

It should as stuff should not bind anymore. I think that tight turns on hard surfaces is detrimental to the front ujoints. I heard one of my pop this past spring and had to change it.

I just put this kit on my dually and this kit is way beffier than the EMS kit on my 12v!Igot dynaloc hubs cause the guy had the kit on the shelf,i like the free spin kit and its worth the money.

Did you buy the hub spacer from Arrow Craft? I was told by Dynatrac that the factory ones could be milled out what do you think.

SPOOLED 05 Have two questions. what brake rotors did you use? Have you thought of using a set of ford front dually 4X4 center caps?

And yes, I used a 4 letter F word!:D

There ebc rotors and green pads. I was going to try and find some and see if i can get them to work cause i cut one stock cap and it looked dumb.

spooled05: why do your wheelstuds look so short?are these the ones included witht he kit?

I dont have the dynatrac kit on my trucks yet but it is next on the mod list. Im so tired of replacing axle joints and ujoints in the driveshaft that i removed my front driveshaft. i replaced the joints and bolt the shaft in when i know im gonna need it. recently i got lazy and hunting and wet season came in and getting in and out of the hunting property scares everything for miles when i sink in the muddy lane. the dynatrac kit should improve my hunting results :)

Why do you have to machine on the dually trucks? where and how much?

Two quick questions. I'm going ahead with the application on my 05 dually as well. By the look of your photo's it appears possible to put the stock cap's back on. Appreciating that this would cover the warn hub's, is it possible? I ask as if only using 4 wheel drive a few times a year it might be just as easy to remove the caps when intending to do so. My second question pertains to the hub spacer. Any idea how much material would have to be milled out of the original to match up with the Arrowcraft? One last question. What kind of a hub puller did you use? I broke my last one attempting to remove a hub a couple years ago. Thanks.

I spoke with Steve at dynatrac about Milling out the hub spacer, he told me it wasn't so much the spacer, as it was there "bearing adaptor". They changed the tappered or left extra material toward the rear that they have not always done. After loking at the two parts "bearing adaptor & OEM hub spacer" I think it could be milled without any problem. That would be a 350. 00 savings less your milling cost!

Thanks, Lynn

The only thing that would need machining would be the factory dually spacer ,but i went with the arrowcraft its alot befier thea stock. The studs were already in the adapters ,their flush with the lugnut which doesnt bother me. And yes you can use factory caps,i cut a hole in one of mine and it looked stupid so i just painted the hubs and went on. I also thought of puting them on and just removing when needed but the no cap look has grown on me so ill leave it alone.

My easiest time pulling the unit bearing off our truck took maybe a minute once i had the bolts off. I jacked the truck up jackstands bolt sides. got down to it all. turned the wheel all the way then stuck a big 3/4" drive socket in the axle joint to put it in a bind. start the truck and let the power steering to the rest. our pump feels kinda tired so we kinda wiggled it out with the steering wheel on the one side then the other. you can used anything thats metal and takes up space.

I have done it with a BFH and torch for hours and torched ball joints and torch the bearing out. i even put antiseaze on everything still a pita to get apart. never again with this trick. soon never again with a dynatrac kit on the frontend.
