Rmtdr Dyno Deal

Anybody home in Austin, Texas?

Sorry gang,,Got in from the road late and could not make it,,I'll look forward to the next one. . Andy

Thanks for coming out

Just a quickie.

I think I can say for the group that a good time was had by all. We had 8 trucks lined up in the Golden Corral parking lot. Lots of turned heads to say the least.

Thanks to all that came out, "RattlinRam" came down from Va. we had a chance to bs a short time.

The dyno run was made by three trucks of the eight. John put on a great show and awed the street racer crowd with the show of real power. I learned that my truck made 220 Hp at the rear wheels. I do not have the torque due to the dyno operator having trouble finding the correct place to put the sensor.

We plan on getting together again on the third Saturday in Jan. Where is up in the air right now, so if you have any ideas either set it up or email me and we will set it up for another BS session.

Thanks to all that showed up and I send my apologize to Rattlinram for such a short vist.

See Ya

Chris

Sure was good to see everyone again.

Maybe we can do this again, if we first find out about getting hooked into our trucks. I should be ready in early spring.

Wes

OOPS!..................

I KNEW I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THAT LEFT TURN AT ALBUQUERQUE!

Hey everyone,

No need to apologize, I was the one running late. I guess I didn't figure the time vs. distance very good. Then there was the "Been up since noon the day before + worked all night + big meal + warm sun = Hound Dog Syndrome". :D Not to mention, Man do they have some traffic in that town! But seriously, I thought Chris gave me good directions, but I just must have neglected to remember one of the turns or something. :( But, it was no big deal even though I really would have enjoyed looking over the rigs and BS'ing. I should have followed ya'll to the dyno and then got something to eat. However, I did enjoy spending the day and ride with my Dad. He's 73 and we don't get that much time to spend together with me working shift work. Therefore, It was a real good day! Thank you Maybe I'll get a chance to get up with ya'll next time when I have a chance to plan things a little better. :D :D :D

A very enjoyable day! It was good to see all of you again!

Rattlin Ram;..... it was a pleasure to meet you and your Dad!

Sorry you got "turned around. "

Wes, we have got to get some input on that dyno

situation. Made two calls after I left you and he

definitely was not "loading" that thing right.

Let me know what you find out.

Stan: I enjoyed our "drag race!" Were you accelerating

hard or just "playing" with me?

Take care everyone, thanks again!

Chris, thanks for setting the meeting up. Mo and I had a great time! Nice to see everyone again.

We did notice that the dyno run seemed to be 'too easy'. At the Scheid diesel rally, the trucks were under load much longer and really seemed to work hard. John's red rocket produced more smoke than our east coast bog fires which wasn't the case this time.

John, I was on it pretty good but got concerned when we got caught in your turbulence - not to mention the smoke from your afterburner!

Dyno problem or operator error?

I'm no expert. This was my first dyno experience, but I agree with Wes. There wasn't enough load on the engine. I wish Chris had gauges to compare what I was seeing. I got 231 & 235 hp, but only got up to 15 lbs boost and between 600 & 700 degrees pre-turbo egt. I can easily to better than that on the road and empty. John, how much boost were you making? It had to be more than me. How? I know your egt was a LOT higher. If you figure 235 hp (stock) + 65 hp (EZ) = 300 - 20% (drivetrain loss) = 240. The hp #'s are pretty close, but I'm hung up on the low boost and egt #'s. If they were where they should have been, how much hp would it have registered? That's a question for someone with more experience than me. Anyone got an answer?

That 65 hp from the EZ is advertised as RWHP. But it doesn't necessarily add 65 hp at the peak, some say the 65 increase is measured lower in the RPM. I would expect your truck to hit around 240 -250 give or take a few. I have absoutely no confidence in those numbers, I am waiting on some more info, but I have learned about the tach signal and the load parameters.

I feel that he has to provide more resistance. What we need to do is find us another shop here in a couple of months. I looked up several last night and plan to give them a call in the coming days. I hope to have my new box soon, so I would like to see what she does then. Unless you all feel froggy and want to make that run up to RI on the 15th.

I did have a good time regardless if an old 12 valver showed everybody up. It was worth the trip over just to watch everyone jump out of their shorts, when Ashley hit the horns that time. :D

Poor Stan looked like it cost him a couple of years off his life.

Catch you guys next time.

Air horn incident?

Where and when was this air horn incident? I heard a horn blow when RattlinRam pulled in. I assumed that was him.

I hear you on the resistance thing. But, why was John getting so much boost? Is it because he has so DAMN much power that the 6k lb drum gave him more resistance than me because slowly brought it up to speed?

RI? Thats a helluva long haul. I'd consider it, but it would probably be a tough sell with the Mrs. Let me know it you want to go and I'll start talking to her.

I am INNOCENT... ... ... . HONEST... ... ... ... check my sig... ..... NO air horns. :( I thought people were jumping towards my truck cause they were happy to see us. and when was the last time you seen someone jump towards a sound that startled them? :D :D :D

David:

To answer your question, my truck was only making

about 35 lbs. of boost. It is capable of making almost

50! I agree with what both you and Wes have said

about the runs, something wasn't right.

----------

Wes:

Count me in if you and David find another shop

to run at.

----------

Chris:

I forgot to tell you "thanks" for setting all of this up!

Keith

Wished you could have made it. We needed someone that knew what was going on.

Think we are shooting for the 3rd Sat. in Jan. for next time.

Wes

Me TOO

Keith

I like it as well, What do I need to do to get one??

Wes

Is their a dyno up your neck of the woods. I really want to run again. I will have gauges in my truck by the first of the year. I am still kicking around the 275, DDII or an EZ I don't know which way I will go, but I am leaning torwards the EZ.

Keith

Is there a dyno up your way?? Va is only a 5 hour drive or if you drive like John a 2 1/2 hour ride. Jan 19 is when we plan on getting togather again.

Look forward to seeing everyone again.

See Ya

Chris

:D :D

Chris,

I have found a couple around the area, but I haven't talked to any of them yet. Why would you want to run again?

Like I suggested why don't you try the different combinations before you decide.

I'll talk to a couple of the shops in the next few days if I get time. I'll let you know what I find out. You all thinking about another shot in Feb. or March??

Wes

Wes

As you, David and John all said the Dyno may not have been done correctly. I still want a "SOLID" base line before or if, I start adding things. MY truck pulls fine on the flat land we have around here, I have no problem at all. A few months ago we went to Winston /Salem and to Ashville (Zoo) once we got in the hills I felt the trailer behind me. I am planning on a trip out west to the real mountains in the next couple of years and want to enjoy the trip at the speed of my choice.

I want my truck to "PULL" whether it be a 5er or a pulling sled. I don't care to much about speed if I did I would have bought a vette.

Yes I want to run a dyno in Jan.

Sounds like you guys had a good time! 3rd Saturday in January I plan to be there. Wherever there ends up. Looking forward to meeting all you. I better start setting up a baby sitter now! Dyno sounds like a good idea again and you can count me in. We will see what a power puck and DD2's will do for you. That is if my clutch holds up.

Do I hear a east coast rally in the makin

I say "Go For It.

I have no problem driving 4/5 hours to a get togather( Richmound/Norfolk) area.

The west coast has all kinds of stuff going on all the time. The Mid East has them weather permitting.

If I had a chance to go to lunch or do a sled pull or a dyno run I would be all over it.

I think it is time to get something started.

Wes, John, Pete, David, Stan, and on and on.

Who is going to set this up.

Lets do it!

See Ya
