Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) edge comp.... interchangable between years?

I heard that a person can interchange edge boxes between years example. 2000 on a 2001, as long as the correct connectors are in place. can anyone confirm this? I don't want to mess up the truck, but have a drag comp that is from an older year and wanted to use it.

98. 5-00 are the same 01 and 02 are only different at the MAP connection, and an adapter can be purchased from edge for 01 and 02 if you want to use one or the other. The 01 and 02 boxes will not work on the older models and vice versa... .
