I've got an 2001 Dodge 3500 4X4 6-spd with 24V HO. I'm currently putting 275 injectors in and want to put a box on it. I've been told that Super chips is the way to go for fuel milage. The Edge Comp looks to me like it may have more settings though. But I've also been told the Edge Comp will get my EGT too hot when I have a trailer on. I've also heard the Edge Comp has better gain and somke? Can anybody comment on both these products? What kind of fuel milage does the Edge Comp get? If I turn off the Edge Comp with the 275's will my EGT be acceptable? Thanks JCH.

i think you'll be happier with the edge comp. when you're towing, and the egts get too hot, just turn the box down or off. thats whats nice about it. you can even adjust the sub settings on the box. i havent had any problems with the box while towing.

Superchips and the Edge Comp aren't even comparable... with the Comp, you'd have 25 different adjustments for power and low-boost smoke control at the push of a button and the Comp has the ability to make about twice the power of the Superchips...

ya i think the hx40 is cooling it a little. the best mileage i can get here in the hill country is about 18 unloaded, i didnt get the best mileage when i was loaded at about 34000 lbs... but i was able to do the speed limit and then some with no problems.

I had a Superchips tuner, needless to say I sold it on Ebay.

I haven't run the Edge Comp, but I do have the Edge Juice w/ Attitude. I have been told that the Juice is basically a Comp w/ gauges. You can set the monitor to defuel at a specified EGT if you're worried about getting to hot.

I still have a the boost & pyrometer I had installed previously, and the digital gauges seem to be sensitive to what the engine is doing.

I noticed my egt's are lower with the Juice, than the Superchips on the highest setting.

I vote smarty. Look at my sig you see what i have, and i have tried many other boxes/stacks of boxes and about 6 different injectors sets. I have not enjoyed a single upgrade as much as the smarty in quite some time. The driveability it provides is unmatched by any box on the market period. Of course i have both, so when i want to really get things toasty i crank the edge and lay down some real fuel. If i could only choose one it would be the smarty though.

I agree on the smarty, it makes the truck so much more fun to drive. It only added 22 peak HP with everything else in my sig but it feels like ALOT more. I drive with the box off almost all the time now. Hopefully not using the wire tap as much will make my VP last longer... . If I were to do it over again the Smarty would be # 1 on my list and big injectors would be #2 at the same time as a SBC!

Read my lips. Go with the Comp. :D Oo.

Ditto for sure... . I have had both & believe me the comp is much better. The superchips is not adjustable on the fly & don't produce half the power either. Get the comp or if possible... Get the juice & don't look back. :-laf ;)

having had both on my 99 24v auto:

I got about 1-2mpg more with the edge juice with attitude.

The power difference is UNBELEIVEABLE! Superchips helps the driving just a bit, but the Edge helps in ANY situation.

This is a glowing endorsement for the Edge Juice/comp over the superchips from someone who has used both for more than 8mos each.

Bought my truck with a superchips. it worked real good gained some power and milage. now I got the comp, would never go back. comp is great very adjustable and WAY WAY more power. my personal milage went down with the comp, but thats my own fault just gotta race every one.

I recently sent my comp in to be dragged and ran the superchip again till it came back. I was wishing everyday for my comp back. superchip is good for the mild bomber that needs a little more power for towing or something like that and doesent want to go down that slippery and expensive slope of mo power. get the comp.
