Does anyone know if my 2011 Ram 3500 diesel SRW supports the engine oil temperature thru the OBD port. Edge indicates that the Insight will display the oil temp if the data is available ther. I havent purchased the Insight yet and would like to know before purchasing. Anyone with the Edge Insight installed I would like to hear how you like it and if the oil temp will display.

Thanks.

It is not available on mine. I like the insight a lot. All the info I wanted in one display. One thing though if you start the vehicle and then shut it off before the insight comes on it confuses it and it locks up. All you have to do is unplug it and plug back in. Not a big prob, just remember to let it power up to gauge screen before you turn off the engine.

You can monitor oil temperature and/or pressure, you just need to purchase the appropriate EAS accessories from Edge. I added the EGT probe, oil pressure sensor and a l. p. fuel pressure sensor.

That's too bad they didn't make oil temperature available through OBD port, or better yet as a display on the EVIC. I have a 2011 - 1500 HEMI also and engine oil temperature is right there on the EVIC display.

6Shaker - what did you have to do to install an oil temp sensor? Where? how? Thanks...

The insight is really good, but I don't think it could get the engine oil temp from the port. I like mine a lot as well, and glad I got it.

TURBOMAN, mine does that also, especially when the engine heaters come on or when I shut it down before the edge comes up then it will go to a white screen and I have to unplug it to re boot. I called edge and the guy said that with the electrical load from the heaters, the edge thinks the truck went through a start cycle and will boot up before the truck is started and it will go into the lockup/white screen mode at the next electrical load which is the start. I now turn the key off after the heaters go off then start the truck, somewhat annoying, but not bad.....

I haven't had an issue w the grid htrs causing the lockup yet, just the quick start and stop. But I hardly ever let the grids cycle completely. If its real cold I will but otherwise I just crank it. On my 02 I always unplugged the grid relays in warm months to save on battery and alternator wear, I plan on unplugging this one unless it pulls a CEL all the time. The insight is real nice to be able to clear a code without having to plug in a device.

Patty,

I'm waiting until I delete to do the Oil temp. I do however have an oil pressure gauge connected. I had to use a 45* fitting on the oil filter housing (very tight). Once deleted, there should be enough room to install the thermocouple to see what the oil temp is like I had on my '06.

Did any of you use the Edge A-Pillar mount on your 4th Gen trucks? If so, how's the fit and finish on that item?

Patty, I just put one on my truck. I ordered it from Geno's and also ordered the adapter that you need. The finish matched my interior really well. The fit was a little long where it contacted the windshield just forward of the dash causing the mount to bow just a tiny bit at the top inboard side. I trimmed it just a tiny bit and it fits perfectly. The adapter was tight, but the instructions tell you about that and to use an alcohol based lube like hand sanitizer to lube the fit, works really well and the lube evaporates leaving a nice tight fit there as well. I'm really pleased with the pillar mount plus it gets rid of the windshield suction cup mount and cleans up the installation as though it was factory.

Thanks Larry! Great info... all this good advice on here is gonna cost me$$$. I can't see getting the Edge without the mount would make much sense. I think I'll place an order.

Any body have an issue with the alert screen being set off by the MAP sensor? My MAP sensor goes up to 50. 5. The insight sets off at about 40, really annoying. Is there a way to adjust the alert point on the MAP?

Also , what EGT temps are those of you with thethe EGT probe seeing during regeneration? Mine hit just over 1600* for a few seconds. I think I had a loose connection on an intake sensor though. I stopped and checked the connections and the regeneration turned off and all was normal again.

Never mind, I found it. but now I'm getting turbo codes and having issues. :{

Larry, I ordered the Edge Insight CTS and finally got around to putting it in. It's a great set-up but just as you said it fits tight and bows a bit at the top inboard side, no matter how well you get it in there. I forgot you had mentioned this fix and will have to trim it a bit for a better fit. So you just shaved off the side of the A pillar mount that comes in contact with the windshield?

Hi Patty. Yes, just trim the edge where it contacts the widshield, BUT JUST A LITTLE BIT... . then trial fit. It doesn't take much at all. I used a steel machinist ruler to guide the cut so that it wouldn't be wavy. It fits perfectly now and I'm really happy with the insight and the mount.

Larry

Thanks again, I'll give it a shot! I do like the Edge though and added monitoring capabilities in one easy set-up... well worth the money.
