O. K. I ordered an Edge CTS a few days ago and got it Friday. I installed it in truck and was setting it up and now I don't even know why I ordered it! Unless I'm missing something a lot of what options on it are already provided in my truck. The only thing that might be helpful is that I will know when it is regenerating and I don't know if that is worth the cost of the unit. I thought it might have a turbo cool down function like my Edge with Attitude did, but if it does, I can't find it. So fellow 4th generation owners, what am I missing?

Don:confused:

With just one look you see all the gauges in one. Did you buy the egt probe ? That was the reason I bought mine. I wanted to see the before tubro egts. After I got the the pillar mount I liked it even more. Just my . 02$

No, I didn't get probe. I didn't think I needed it since engine is stock and will remain that way. Edge is a cool looking gage, but I think I will send it back, not worth the $ for what different items it monitors.
Thanks,
Don

Don,
You have to order a turbo timer for the timer function. I also installed an EGT probe before the turbo and the pillar mount.
There are a lot of functions the CTS will do, such as maintenance reminders, high limits, mileage driving coach, etc.
I really enjoy mine.
Just my . 02

I have a CTS installed in my truck and I think it is the best monitor you can buy for a truck. I installed the optional EGT probe along with some pressure and temp sensors and I LOVE the CTS.

Its really too bad that you won't be keeping the one you bought.

If you cannot return the unit, and want to sell it send me a PM. If I recall correctly, the 4th gen engines do not work with a cool down timer, another "benefit" of them. I would like to get a CTS, and the EGT sensor kit, a small thing called money is holding me up (maybe better put -conflicting priorities).

JLeake, The turbo timer does work with the 4th gen. , at least with the 2010. You have to order the timer module that plugs in to the "daisy chain" and an adapter that connects to the harness under the steering column. It works great on mine.

Can you direct me to the pillar mount site please?

You might want to read my last couple columns in the magazine. The Insight can monitor up to ten at a time out of 48 parameters. I picked ten I was interested in that aren't available on the 7" instruemnt cluster, such as egt1 for determining when it is cooled down mostly, fan speed, rail pressure, etc.

Has anybody plugged in the back-up camera function... mounted to the trailer license plate?
I'm thinking about hooking up a backup camera to my Edge Insite CTS, but mounting the camera inside the cab pointed at me so I can see how good I look driving my new truck. :-laf

Uh, John... I think they call that a mirror... <G> Are the wheels still turning, or have they stopped for awhile? Hope you found some high ground if they stopped! Merry Christmas.

Hey Greg,

We're down near the Salton Sea in extreme SoCal enjoying the nice warm, dry weather (well mostly). Been here a month so far and will stay here for at least another before possibly moving on. Check out our blog for more details.

Merry Christmas to you too,

John L.

I dis-agree, Edge monitor is very chessy ,Banks IQ is more rugged ,better viewer and more user friendly, needles to say they need more viewable Options..They have promised to update fully function status early next year...Hmmmm.. I do think the cost of the CTS is fair for what you get.

My sales Guy stated Banks has full fill all their military contacts, they are back to Diesel/Gas performance Full time...I will wait to see before I throw my lots there way, they have ****** off a lot of loyal dealer/seller by their retail tactics.

Back in the day I installed plenty of Banks products and liked their stuff... But as you said, ignoring the market for a while didn't help keep/make them popular.

Hopefully they will return, both because they have/make good stuff and competition is good for the market and consumers.
