What box are you guys running? I always see EZ, is that the box you just plug in for 65hp and 180tq? I saw on their website they make more than one box. When you say EZ which box are you guys talking about? and why did you pick the one you did? thanks.

I started out with the edge EZ and DD2 80hp injectors a love it with a stock turbo. the EZ is simple plug up screw in the bass elbow and go! i made 325hp with it and DD2s

The EZ is a nice towing box with stock injectors. Personally, I'd look at the Diesel Dynamics TrueTorque Power Module (an EZ with DD-specific programming) if you're going with larger injectors. The TTPM's injection timing isn't as aggressive (i. e. , not as much advance) as the EZ, which quietens the engine and reduces peak firing pressures with larger injectors.

I haven't dynoed my truck since installing the DD2's, but AggieJustin has the same setup I do, and he's getting 342BHP/785 lb-ft on the dyno.

We tow a 13,500 lb 5th wheel that puts us on the road at 21,180 lbs GCW (21,500 lb GCWR). We never slipped the stock clutch empty or towing with the EZ - until I added the DD2's. It would slip running empty if you floored the throttle at 1800 RPM in 5th after the DD2's went in. Others have run the DD2's with a box, and their stock clutches seem to survive. My point is, if you're looking at an EZ by itself, the stock ETH/DEE clutch is normally fine, but with the EZ and injectors, you may be calling Peter at South Bend Clutch! Forewarned is forearmed! ;) :D

Edit: Oops! I notice you have an ETC with NV4500, so some of my comments won't apply. I'll leave them for any ETH/DEE folks who might read this thread, though.

Edge products has two boxes for the ISB 24v, the EZ and the Comp, the EZ only connects to the CAN bus and the MAP sensor and is non adjustable, the Comp is adjustable in the cab and also taps the wire on the injection pump. When someone refers to an EZ it is the 65 HP 185 ft/lb box, when they refer to the Comp it is the adjustable 40 to 120 HP box . Edge boxes for the ISB

I have an EZ and the RV 275 injectors and never noticed any change in milage, better or worse.

CFast,

I'm running an older version of your pickup (see sig). I put an EZ and DDII's in it with the stock clutch. I ended up investing in the SBC about 1500 miles later.

I really like the set up... very driveable, but most mods are if you learn their quirks.

As for mileage, I went from stock to just an EZ and gained about 1-2 mpg. When I added the DDIIs, it dropped back to pretty much stock, unless I'm horsing it a bunch. On winter fuel, before it got bloody cold, I was getting 17 in town and 20 on the highway. Now I'm getting about 15 town and 17 highway with the temps hovering around zero.

All my figures were derived mathematically, as the EZ (or any box for that matter) will completely foul up the algorithm the overhead computer uses for mileage calculation. One of the inputs is throttle position... with a box, you don't have the pedal down near as far to get the same fuel in the engine. The box thinks you're making red hot mileage as a result. If I believed my overhead, I'd be averaging just a touch over 24 mpg:D  ... now wouldn't that be nice:)
