Yup, I know this has been beat to death, but I can't find the info...

Does ANYONE know when the fueling starts at the various settings??? I seem to remember no fueling on setting 1, Fueling addition at 20PSI at setting 2, and Fueling addition at 10PSI on setting 3 (most aggresive) or is it 20PSI@1, 10PSI@2 and Full fueling at 3? or something to that effect.

ANYONE know for sure???

Once I get the answer, this thread SHOULD die rather quickly.

Thanks for the input. :confused:

The EZ has no timing only.

It is

1=20psi

2=10psi

3=3psi

The DD version has the timing only for setting 1

I emailed Edge this summer to get a definative answer on this.

Hope this helps

Ted

Cool...

Thanks SO MUCH for the quick response... Just needed to know, I'm playing around and it is nice to know when the 'box' kicks in.

Thanks again.

:D :D :D

What are the major advantages/disadvantages in each setting. If you just interested in more power while towing, under load, why not leave it in the 1 or 2 setting? Would leaving it in the lower settings take some pressure of the drive train/clutch or AT for those with autos?:confused:

Well, I'm testing and...

Looking for info also about different MPG stats while in the different modes. Seems like the best mileage would happen during 'Least' setting because you have the timing advance but you don't add additional fuel right off the line.

But, getting to speed faster may be the way to go.

Dunno yet but putting the feelers out to find out.

:confused: :confused: :confused:

AND...

What happens when you have NO jumpers hooked up???

Seems it did something, but cant find it and can't remember, but...

Or you can use a switch........

Too cheap to buy the comp after I already had the EZ. So I rigged my own switch. I mounted the switch on a bracket and added a couple of LED's for effect. Yellow for cruising and green for go. :D :D

To tell you the truth the little HY turbo spools up so quick that I can go over 20# of boost in no time. SOP tell's me it's a little quicker on three but not worth wasting the fuel all the time. And yes, with no jumpers it defaults to 3.

That's a neat seup... I'm guessing you used a DPDT switch, but how did you power the LED's?

DPDT is correct........

One set of the contacts switch the EZ. By the way the entire bottom row of pins on the EZ are common. That way you only have to run one wire to it. If you wanted all three settings you could run 2 wires to #1 & #2 and use a switch that has an off as the EZ defaults to #3.

The other set of contacts are to turn the LED's on and off. I have a terminal block under the dash to power the fuel gauge and the LED's. I used the LED's that run on 12V so no resistor needed. Depending on switch used you could install three LED's if you wanted. The hard thing was finding a jumper that would fit inside the EZ and allow me to still close the cover. Here is a pic of what they look like. There is actually 3 jumpers one's just hidden behind the other. Soldered them on at a right angle and used a little shrink wrap to protect them. These came in a row of 20 and can be cut off to make individual ones. It was only a $1 so if anyone needs some I can go and pick some more up.

Another little trick to twist the wires and make a neat bundle cut the lengths you need. The clamp them in a vise and chuck the other end to a battery drill and hit the trigger. Twists em up like they were factory.

Here's one more Combo for you to think about. I got my Edge EZ it had the 1 and 2 positions with jumpers. There was no other instructions with it and I called ADT for the answer. They contacted Edge and that was the "timing only" setting. Other than that, it has the 3 settings for fueling.

Garrett,

I'm thinking of doing the same thing with the switch.

Question for you... Can you switch while truck is running? Or only when truck is off?

TIA!

Scott.

Let me ask this another way...

Some of my questions were answered but no one has answered one of my main questions.

If you leave it in 1 or 2 can you eventually achieve the 60+- HP that the ads say, just slower to get there? If you were not interested in how fast you could get off the line, and just overal HP increase when towing, seems that you could just leave it in 1 or 2 and also avoid high torque problems when starting out... .

Scott....Yes you can switch it while running.

RJOL, You're thinking sounds correct to me. I don't think you actually see all 60 HP. More like 40HP. The boost settings posted above are correct.

If you only needed the extra power for towing I would set it to 1 or 2. 3 is aggressive and combined with turbo lag the benefits don't seem that noticeable to me. Bigger cloud of smoke is all. If I hit the go pedal hard the HY spools up so quick it hits 20 right away anyhow. So for me it isn't worth having it on 3 unless I want to smoke someone out.

Garrett,

Thanks for the info... There is another thread currently running on TDR, that says that they dyno'd several CTD with the EZ and that the manual transmission CTD only saw an additional 10+- HP. The Auto's saw 30+-. Sure would like to know others experiences with 5 or 6 speeds, as I'm about to purchase an EZ for my 5 speed but don't think I'd do it for only 10HP +- increase... :(

Dyno or SOP..........

Dyno's can lie (Sort of). There are too many tangibles to make it totally accurate. Find someone in your area that has an EZ. Plug it in and let your set-o-the-pants dyno tell you if it's worth it. Way better than a printed graph showing horse power.

Just MHO,

Garrett,

Where would I find these jumpers you're using and what specifically (if you recall) are they called? Radio Shack sell them?

Thanks again!

Rick,

If you'd like to try mine out, send me a PM. I'm in Puyallup.

Local electronics store....

This guys a junk dealer in electronics. Has all sorts of stuff. Had to dig through a bunch of bins to find these. I'm sure a better electronic shop would have them.

Worse case if you cant find any E-mail me and I'll pick you some up.
