i know this has probobly has been talked about before but here and i missed it but here it goes. i have a 2000 2500 dodge ram ctd 4x4 automatic with i think 3. 54 rear. my qustion is i don't tow very much usually like 2,000 lbs(boat) in fishing season. i also have the stock exhaust on it. if i were to the get the edge ez would the transmission and tq hold up ok considering i don't tow very often or very much weight at that, and will the exhaust temp be ok, i do have gauges in it. i like to step in to it every now and then and just wanted a little more get up and go. will there be a nicely felt performance gain? sorry for all the qustions.

You will be fine thats how I started and I was blown away with the extra power from the EZ. It will be one of the best investments you could make IMO. Your truck will be fine go for it!

EZ - WTH is it??

I am VERY new to the world of CTD! (Just bought my first... '02 3500 Quad 4x4) and am interested in just what this EZ is that everyone seem to know about but me!!

Thanks for helping a newbie out!!

Welcome to the TDR! A EZ is a box that increases HP and torque to your CTD. There is a EZ edge that adds 60 hp and I think like 120 to torq. There is also a EZ Comp box that has 5 levels of power you can adjust from 60hp to 130hp. If you do a search for EZ you will get tons of information.

You might also consider the Western Diesel Turbo RPM module which is 65hp and 188lb-ft at the rear wheels. The EGTs are very close to stock and our customers using it say it works very well. Also given your application the transmission should hold up to it just fine.

Here's a link to the manufacturer of the Edge EZ along with their other higher performance products: http://www.edgeproductsinc.com/products.html There are quite a few products out there that are rebadged Edge EZ modules and are basically a device that advance the timing, minor fueling increases, and hide extra boost from the ECM to prevent defueling and setting error codes. Best to get gauges EGT/Boost/Fuel Pressure before any BOMBing takes place. Oh and one more thing; BOMBing is not a slippery slope, it's a cliff :D

:) I have a friend that has a truck like yours. Completely stock. When I had my EZ we did a test with his truck. He has a 9,000 travel trailer. We did a run from the middle of a very steep hill and the trailer hooked up. Top speed was 28 mph and the transmission was continually hunting. We repeated the test over the same ground with my EZ installed, minuse the boost elbow of course. This time top speed was 41 mph and no hunting of gears with the transmission. Both test were conducted from a standing stop over a 1 mile run from the same spot starting at the steepest part of the hill. Only difference was the EZ.

They are a good investment.

i mean it's not like i'm being cheap or anything but where in the heck can you get a refurbished ez box at. directly from them? if i can save a buck or two that is always a good thing.

jerrethomas :D As far as getting a refurbished box from EZ, I don't know how that would work. I do know that I traded my EZ back to Edge at the factory there in Utah. I delt with Arron. He is a straight up guy. Give him a call and ask him if he still has the EZ box with the 4 huge computer heat sinks that Mundgyver (That be ME) traded in for my Comp and if he is willing to part with it. That chip was great and the only reason I traded it in was :D (I'm a performance hound in the closet):D :D I know he will remember me as the look on his face when he saw the heat sinks I put on the box was priceless;)

the reburburished boxes have the same warranty as new

I just like to past along bargains:)

same hp and toque gain but less $$$ = :D

(and I make no profiT)

I'm about a year ahead of you: 1st--gauges (put in two EGT's, pre and post turbo), boost, temp w/4-position switch, and most important!! fuel pressure) I have temp, boost, fuel pressure on post and Dual EGT where useless hole above radio was..... 2nd--I didn't want to completely replace exhaust, so replaced muffler with pipe from Genos, 3rd--I bought EZ from add on this site (didn't pay full price (about $450)... . wouldn't be afraid to buy used one from someone... ... . I am saving money for transmission up-grade, know it is a matter of time... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... R, J. B.

I would recomend running the EZ on setting #2 (no added fueling till you reach 10psi of boost). I ran mine on the default (fueling at 3psi) for 6 months. There were times the transmission would shutter at light throttle and low RPM. I like the way the transmission shifts better on Setting 2. It's got to be better for the transmission too.

The EZ has 3 settings (actually 4 if you count the setting for timing only). You have to open it up and move a jumper to change the setting.

How do you get the timing only. I read somewhere if you take the jumper off it will go back to the most aggressive setting ?
