Are my EGT's right for a stock 04.5??

I liked both of the ones I had, ran an EZ in my 99 for over 100K and had one in my 03 for 30k, bith worked great. I might be selling mine now, the new Quad box seems to be even better!!

I just put mine on yesterday, so what I have is only initial reactions. My rig is also the 305/555, which I understand responds very well to the EZ (and others).

The truck drives completely different. It revs freely now and there seems to be no noticable turbo lag - no waiting for the turbo to "spool up". Throttle response is immediate with a VERY noticable increase in power. I've only been on the Level 3 setting.

My main interest is in towing power and that will be tested, begining Tuesday. I should have good comparisons within a week.

Read the latest TDR magazine. One reason I went with the EZ is that it was the only one tested that did not cause the common rail fuel relief valve to routinely open, something it was not designed to do. I've also heard others that tow or are interested in dependable power (not to be confused with potentially equipment breaking ultimate power) have had years of sucess with the EZ.

If you want to be King of the Hill, don't mind breaking parts, looking to upgrade turbos and transmissons anyway, maybe the EZ is not for you.

Again, I'm on Level 3. If I go to 4 or 5, I'm sure I can break stuff too... :). I believe the TDR article points out that anything over a 40-60 HP gain is beyond the useful capability of the stock turbo.

It's a good article and I appreciate those that research and write articles that the membership can benefit from.

Very pleased with the Edge EZ. I can notice a power increase in all three settings. I use to have some white smoke during acceleration, but since I put the Edge on it has cleared up. Very easy to install and take off. Highly recommended for a modest but noticable power gain. My over head computer seems to read a little more optimistic but i do get a slight real world mpg gain.

I was one of the beta testers for the EZ on the 600. I was very pleased with the results of it and do a lot of towing with moderate loads back and forth across the Rockies. I have now stepped up to the Juice and all I can say is WOW! Either of these products seem to be worth the money in my opinion.

Moderate increase in power is the key word. All the other superlatives are correct as well. If you're looking for a monstrous increase in power that will let you burn rubber for two city blocks, Edge isn't what you're looking for. But for the average driver, towing or whatever, who wants more power without risking drivetrain components, Edge is your product. It will give you 100 extra HP and 200 lb-ft. of torque if you can talk someone into putting it in the "secret" sixth position.

But keep in mind that Edge in its lowest setting will invalidate the 7/70 factory drivetrain warranty. Keep Robert Patton's admonition in mind: You are your own warranty station.

David-

Popped the Edge EZ in to my HO 6-spd 2001 Dodge Cummins today (in 10 minutes!) and I'm stoked with the performance!! That little black box really does the trick in telling the Cummins to wake up! After the initial heavy foot wears off, I may get to see some MPG benefit. Heck, with the awesome performance now, I don't really care!

I love the EZ that I have on my truck. It still could use some more power (JUICE), but that may come after I hit the dyno after I get my exhaust next week.

I just put it on. My dealer actually put it on. I stopped in to get transmission fluid and filter and the service tech asked me if I wanted to try out the Edge EZ for a few days. So I jumped at the chance! Free HP for a few days! It is on level four and I am impressed. It will smoke the tires at will. The only thing I noticed is EGTs got up to about 1250 degrees. I have never seen that. Boost is up from 24 -27 PSI. It really woke this truck up. I was looking for a little more HP. This is the Edge EZ with the jumpers. 4 settings(not controllable in-cab). Can I buy the Juice controller with this model? Does anyone know?

Does the dealer know if you have put an Edge EZ on. What I'm trying to say is... ... if you have transmission problems and remove the box can the dealer recognize that you had one? I was told by a local dealer (that sells the edge box) before you go into the dealer place the negative and positive battery cables together for 30 min and it will clear all codes that the box may have caused. I'm thinking this sounds weird, but is it true?

I thought the codes were were stored in NVRAM so there there even if you loose power, not sure if the short would drain it out. There will be no red flag or field that says PRESSURE BOX used but depending on how long you used it a savvy tech can figure it out based on other factors. Typically the gallons used to miles driven will be skewed (like the overhead!) and show an average mpg way too high. That is something the tech would have to look for and do some math to figure out.

I would think that they would have to prove you had the box on if the box is not there than they can't prove it and ya just need to ask around for a good dealer to due warenty stuff mine will be about a 40 mile drive and passing two other dodge dealers on the way but worth it

Les - you are concerned about additional towing power. I too want to consider Edge EZ for the same thing on my 2003. However, Edge's information in their add confuses me. I sent them an e-mail about this and have not gotten a return. Here is what they say, copied from THEIR info.

The Edge EZ module allows maximum fueling at full turbo boost and provides an additional 70 rear wheel horsepower and an additional 220 foot pounds of torque. Simply plug the Power Edge EZ connectors into the ECM Data Link connection and MAP sensor. The Edge EZ is completely weatherproof and mounts under the hood. For 2003 and later trucks, the EZ has four levels of adjustability ranging from 40 to 70 additional horsepower and can also be set to zero for heavy towing without having to unplug the module.

Why would I have to set it to zero for heavy towing? That is just when I would need the extra horsepower and torque. Please either you or someone else who has knowledge help me understand. Why waste the money if you have to turn it off during heavy towing? Thanks.

they put that on there most likely for a safe guard so people can't come back on them and say hey I did what ya told me and it broke my truck.

On the other had I just insatalled it saturday took about 10 min to due and holy hell I'am inpressed stage 1 no notice to me stage two throttle is there quicker and stage 3 no turbo lag what so ever I love and can't wait to get my juice

The advice I've been getting from the heavy towing members is that EGTs are the issue - they are always the issue, regardless of the mod or the use.

What I expect to find out when I start my trip Tuesday is that the flexability and grade climbing will be significantly improved. I do not expect to have to downshift from 6th to 5th as soon or as often. I expect the power band that used to exist around 2,200 RPM will now be available at 2,000RPM - which is a good speed for my setup (~70 MPH).

As always, I expect to be EGT limited on the steeper grades, its just I'll be going a little faster and have a greater power band on the way to that limit.

I joked on the last trip (4K miles) that I needed a cruise control that could be set to not exceed 1,250°EGT instead of some MPH setting! It would redefine "cruise control" for the mountains.

I have (had) the EZ on my 03 and it plugged into the Fuel Pressure and MAP sensors, no plug to the Data link. I usually left it at setting 3 even when towing and never had a problem. Not much for hills around here but did head throught the smokeys a few times. I just keep an eye on the egt's and drive by that.

My experience is fantastic, I have a 3500 quad 4X2 with only 9K on it. I put the edge on there at 1200 miles. I drove to texas at 80 as an average speed and the setting on 4 and averaged over 18 miles per gallon on the way down. Now I have just shhy of 9 thousand miles and if I stay under 60 I can average 23. 8 with leverl 5 (attitude Juice) and the overall performance is great. I have added an age pro guard 7 to free up the intake a little, but very little difference there. I am running 0-60 in about 6. 2, and 1/4 miles times are sub 15 (14. 83). I am figureing that by the time I get the motor really broke in, I should be able to increase my conservative driving fueil mileage to at a minimum of 25.

Even driving around town and staying under 75 for freeway driving I can aveage 18. 3 on a 34 gallon tank.

Nice numbers! I imagine those are all actual hand calc's and that is great. I have seen 24 mpg with the cruise set at 55 but mine was broken in around 30k. It oges down from there as the speed goes up though!!
