I don't think that the tail pipe is where the potatoe should be stuffed ! I never drink Kool Aid either for obvious reasons.

CrewCab. You do realize that shortly after establishing a colony on Greenland the Vikings began to market their excess wheat back in Europe, don't you?

(This to CrewCabDiesel) Ok, I'm new to TDR, but you are here worried about man caused CO2 emissions, yet have a 1 ton truck, with 4:10 gears, and tuning to produce massive CO2? A social studies teacher who is a disabled vet and Republican? Sounds like you need to do some soul searching to me on many levels. HBarlow seems to have it straight from what I've read. Yes, I know this is an old post.. but it is still relevant. If you are so worried about CO2, ride a bicycle or get an economy car.. or just realize you are part of the problem you believe exists.

1st the upgrades I have done make the truck MORE efficient there for less emissions. I use my programmer to tune the truck to burn less Fuel while making better power. Yes I have other vehicles, two vw tdi that get 45mpg plus the truck and suburban are used as needed, for farm use and pulling a camper, suburban is a grocery getter whe shop once a month, stores are 45 miles away one way, and whole family hauler(4 kids).
Yes you are new to TDR and starting off taking a personal shot at another member is not a good start.
As for my data is from imperical sources and if you don't agree, come up with some REAL evidence, not just opinion.
I am trying to reduce my families carbon foot print with use of solar power and conservation of resources. I am a school teacher, coach, disabled Vet and volunteer fireman , I am not perfect, and make tons of mistakes, but I try to make a positive difference by doing, not complaining. WHAT are you doing to make the world a better place?

OK, just for you.
I am trained in pumper operations, Hasmat, 1st responder, and also carry a CDL B with air brake and school bus,(I drive my soccer team to games and etc) and emergency equipment operations endorcements. So in short I get the fire truck to the fire, and keep water coming to those actually fighting the fire, direct traffic, direct lifefilght in landings and take offs using radios and hand signals. I also deal with crowds, press, and idoits. I also receive advanced medic training (among other things) in the US Army and flew on a medivac dealing with FUBAR !

I am one of three DAVs on the fire department, we are the ones who don't get too jacked up on adrenaline and keep the younger firefighters out of trouble including one of my sons who is also a volunteer firemen . Just because someone is disabled doesn't mean they are not useful in active situations. I been dealing with that for 30 years.

I didnt mean to offend you. Just wondered how it was working for you. Sounds like you are doing exactly what I thought you might be able to do. Just goes to show you that you maybe you are not as disabled as one might think.

Crew.. it is was you that fired the first shot I can see from the thread. As far as making a difference goes... if you think you are saving the planet by saving a small amount of fuel.. I suggest you think about that a bit more.. I too have small efficient cars (one gets about 40MPG the other almost 50MPG) for most trips, been recycling long before they would pick it up, and done all kinds of things for efficiency and conservation, but I'm not assuming any of that is going to save the planet, because it won't, it just makes sense to not waste resources. If you really believe mankind can affect the climate, and CO2 from man is leading that change, you have to do much more to live by that standard, and 4:10 gears are not an efficiency upgrade (oh, and you should get a newer vehicle with improve emissions standards too...).. but I digress. There has been plenty of data already posted about the foolishness of the entire Man Made Global warming scam.. no need to repeat, other members have it well covered. (technically I'm a Disabled Vet too, but I not normally advertise this, because I choose to pretend I'm not disabled.. and I do still serve, and have done more deployments than are worth mention... so I'm not the person to be asking how I've made a difference.. I'm also not the one on here to start the blasting of another member, who was correct in his comments.. by posting a bunch of BS labeled "Fact".. that was you.. and you need to called out on it. I should also add your first post on this thread was a big complaint against another member.. not sure how else to interpret that. In summary... I don't believe the scam of man-made climate change, and it is a giant scam. I do conserve, and live it, but I don't go around with the attitude that I'm somehow superior or saving the planet because I choose to conserve resources when possible. That is what you are doing here, and I'm pretty sure it is clear to anyone following this thread, which is about the EPAs tyrannical efforts to punish a business for producing a product the customer wants, a product like the one YOU HAVE to tune your truck! How ironic is that?!

Crew.. let’s go back and look at your “facts”. One must first start off with an important concept in logic, and yes.. being a social studies guy, I know that may not be your subject, but as an engineer, nuclear trained with an MBA.. I’m pretty good at logic.. so here the concept for you to consider: Correlation does not imply causation. In simple terms.. Two trend lines that have a similar pattern does not mean one caused the other... it can and often is just pure coincidence. For simplicity I’ll call this “note 1”.

So.. let’s use that and analyze your “facts”:

“FACT: Autism rate has gone up 20 times what it was 20 years ago and the percentage is considerably higher in larger industrial towns. “ --- Note 1.

“FACT: Cancer is exploding; look at the big business getting into it, some rates of increase is up 126%. Survival rates are much higher now though, I live with CML (leukemia) myself. “ --- Sorry to here about your illness. I do hope treatments are successful for you.. but to this “fact” Note 1 again.

“FACT: other types of genetic damage on the increase.” --- Note 1

“FACT: life expectancy has gone DOWN in the USA, mostly due to diet, but there are some Environmental issues too. “ --- Not true, from all the data it has been going up, but has slowed in increasing life expectancy, recall that when Social Security was started life expectancy was about 65 and few were ever expected to collect… and now it is late 70s or more… so not sure you have a point here. It can’t go on to infinity.

“Fact: the river in Detroit on fire was NOT from gasoline but pollution, I WAS THERE! I also looked online there were 4 rivers that caught fire just in Michigan alone from pollution” --- Ok, so it was on fire because SOMETHING polluted it that was flammable.. gasoline or some petroleum product seems the most reasonable explanation doesn’t it? Or did you take a sample and if so, please do tell us the chemical composition of the pollution that caused the fire.. I’d really like to know.

So to point out a rather fun fact that was put out on the Wonderful World of Stu some months back to point out the often used, and flawed logic of using two trends and assuming one causes the other.. the production of and consumption of “organic” food is increasing at the SAME RATE as autism, so by the logic you are using, I’d have to conclude that organic food is causing autism.. and isn’t that foolish?

So, to tie it back to the original topic, the EPA and the tyrannical regulators are imposing standards that do not help the environment, in fact they BURN MORE fuel -CO2! (just read a few TDR articles where they confirmed this) with some of these components that solve no real problem, and it does add cost to our vehicles (initial, and maintenance because some of these parts are really expensive!) … so the EPA also does not get the logic of note 1… and that is how this is relevant. Then there is the impact on energy and resources in the production of some of these new additions… there is a much bigger picture to it that most will want to consider.
